We woke early in the full knowledge that we couldn’t stay in bed any longer. Our neighbour with the sliding door was awake and had resumed his sliding anew. He had his engine running trying to clear his misted windows . Something that sadly failed due to his doors being open and any warm air was quickly escaping. Breakfast was served in Suzy. Disaster – I had forgotten to buy jam and worse still the croissants to serve it on. We set off after breakfast for the tunnel – 15 minutes down the road. As I got out of Suzy the machine did not recognise our number plates and I had to manually enter our booking reference. Something I loathe doing. Strange – no choice of departures other than the 8.20 we had booked on. We ... read more

Lof is only 20 kilometres away from Lof, not really a very long journey and having plenty of time we made a visit to a castle on the way. It is high up on the mountain but we could reach it by car. Very limited parking on top but being lucky someone left that gave me a nice spot to put the car. The views were amazing. You could look down on the Mosel with on eider side the grapes covered the steep mountains. A few pleasure boats were making their way to where ever on the river. The castle was interesting. The entrée was just 7 Euro so not to bad. The medieval sphere is there when you walk around those enormous thick walls. The canons and weapons are shown everywhere. Time to go and ... read more

We both happy we were going to our favourite place Boppard. We will spent a few days there Always enough to do for us. We have a nice room there overlooking the Rhine. So nice to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine and some cheese seeing the river boats passing by. We also see the big holiday riverboats with people from overseas. They stop sometimes to give the people the chance to see the city of Boppard. On the way there we went to Bingen first so we had a nice drive along the Rhine a beautiful scenery that will always stay in your mind. On an even par with the Mosel with scenery but the Rhine is far more busier and more to see. We made a stop in St Goar. Years ... read more

This was the last of France now we entering Germany. We are on the way to Worms. A lovely little place on the Rhine. We also choose this place for it was close to Family in Saarland. So much time we have not to stay there as well so Worms being so close was the best place to do all those things. We made a last stop in France at a bakery that also had coffee. A place to sit down and relax for we knew the next stop might not eventuate at all and we were right. Everybody started their holiday this weekend. It was chaos on the roads. Leaving France and arriving in Germany you are automatically transferred to autobahns or our GPS lady calls them motorways. We had files of kilometres long ... read more

After I got to my hostel in Cologne around midnight, I realised that I was the only one in the dorm room. There was no luggage, clothes, or any sign that anyone else had come in. The hostel was like a large house with three floors, and I think the owner lived on the top floor. I’d asked the owner that morning if there were other people arriving and he said he was fully booked. The reception closed at 8pm though, so if people weren’t here by now then they wouldn’t be coming. Well that was enough to freak me out! I was instantly convinced that this was some sort of scam to rob/murder single travellers. I had a key to the room, so before I locked the door for the night, I literally searched every ... read more

Saturday morning, we had to be on the bus at 8, so breakfast was at 7, but I was up and ready by 6:30. So I ate early and then sat in the lobby to work on my blog. They wifi on the bus was finally working. However, as we got away from the city, it was sporadic. As we drove along the interstate highways, I noticed a lack of billboards and advertisement like we have in America. Even the exit signs only indicate food (crossed spoon and fork) and lodging (a bed). No company names. As we crossed into Germany, there is no large sign to indicate that you are crossing into another country. A couple of small signs indicated that you were now in Germany. We traveled along the Autobahn for a while. According ... read more

Pleine lune, plein soleil, plein printemps, pur bonheur…

Örneğin... read more
