Off we go to Germany. We started out the day going back to where we were 8 Years ago in a village called Neukirchen. ( New church)
Unfortunately , most of the pics are at a higher resolution then that is allowed on this website, so I can only load ones that are under 8megs.
Immediately Bernd and I got back into the car to pick up some booze. We went to an outlet in the middle of nowhere and purchased some wine representative of Germany. One was a red wine which actually resembles a white wine in that it is white, but it is a red!. Hmmmmmm... Must try it out. Yum. After supper we toured the village and waved to alot of locals. it was interesting in that the history being explained dated back over 100 years and was being told as if it were yesterday.
The next day, began on the bikes. Just the boys. The idea was that we would bike around and meet for beer at a monastery at noon. We stopped off at a shoemaker who specializes in orthopaedics and he let me have a sample of a pair of sandles in
that the soles of the sample shoes are rounded so that the center of your feet are higher that the front and the back. The idea is that by walking on these you must keep a balance which should then help you strenthen your lower back. As we continued along the way through the farmers fields, I marvelled at the accessability bikes have through the countryside which is through the borders of farmers fields. At noon we stopped to have a brew and lunch. The beer was from the oldest brewery in the world. Delic.... Hic . The girls met us and we continued with lunch.
Last night we went off to Munster where we were invited to a 50th birthday party. It started out with of course, champagne at the door. We thought we were going to a BBQ and there would be 20 people, but it was like a wedding with a 100 or more people. This was going to be a longgggg.... night. The music was deejayed and we had a live singer, singing old nostalgic songs from the 70's. Well, we also met some Canadians that live in Germany and hit it off really well.
It was a blast talking to the guests who after drinking warmed up and began trying to talk to us in English. One such gentleman hooked onto us and we became best friends before the evening was out. We communicated with gesters and laughter. His arm was around me at one point. No, he's not gay. His wife was beside him and we were singing songs with the crowd. Before we left, he darted up to the DeeJay and took the microphone and dedicated a Bluegrass song to the Canadians. It was hard to get out of there at 130AM. We still had a hour and 20 min drive ahead of us and returned home by 3AM. Waking up today was easy. No hangover but GREAT memories.
I have to say that Germans know how to party!
