Well it's now been week 2 for us here in Wiesbaden. The hunt for an apartment has been interesting. Currently there are 2 top contenders, however we have just looked at 4 places!! One contender has really cool windows, is near the park and fusganger, is 192m squared, has 2 kitchens.... etc.. sad part about it, to get to the rooms you have to go through the bedrooms.... Contender 2, is super modern, has a cool landscape, 3 floors, close to park and fusganger area, has 3 bathrooms, sad part here, the kitchen is made for 1 person only- not kidding, it's tiny but super spacious- about 145m squared.....
We're trying to see more apartments quickly... so to my mind, the more we see, the faster we can move on and decide. it's a super exciting process!!! i get excited every time we get to see a house!
We have a car!!! yes folks we are mobile now and driving around Germany! Car got here super quick. The process to get the car was odd, and took a while, but people here are so nice!! At first we didn't even want to admit the car arrived, (hesitant driving on the autobahn) but then we'd be able to get to places- so we sucked it up and are now driving around... though we still walk much more- easier to walk then to drive sometimes.
Today we went to another city- and went to checkout the walmart--- its funny, it's horrible just as the states- parking and driving. tons of things inside! we then went to another store- mann mobilia, that was ok, more house stuff,,, and a restaurant inside. Most places seem to have restaurants inside.
We have found our favorite restaurant!!! Can't wait to take all of you there and have some of our favorite dishes- cambert with cranberries, and delicious steak with grilled tomatoes and herb butter. delicious!!!
In the evening we sometimes wander down to the fusganger just to walk around, many little bakeries/ preztel places, many different kinds of stores, also a McD's and a starbucks in there..... oh yeah and my coworkers have introduced us to their favorite hangout place- Danny Boys Pub.... yup they hang out for the drinks.... lol...
Oh yes everyone smokes here!! in restaurants and elsewhere... no such thing as a no smoking zone. Having to get used to that.
This week we had my holiday party and my coworkers and spouses went out for lunch and just ate and socialized. We also had a white elephant gift exchange. They celebrate x-mas here late because everyone is in the states or elsewhere during that time here.
Tony has been diligent about trying to find a job and has been applying to multiple ones... so hopefully it goes well. I keep telling him he needs patience and to enjoy it while he can....
Grocery shopping is wonderful as we go to the commisary and shop- we've also gone into german stores to check them out,,, price wise, the commisary is way better.... oh yeah the fusganger has an open market 2x a week in the morning,,, sell everything there from bread to meats to cheese to nick nacks.
ok, i think i got everything this week...Now we wait for Nancy to give us a ring and to say hello.
miss everyone and wish you could see everything here. hoping for better weather and more sun,
gabriela

Your life there sounds wonderful, exciting and happy!!! Tony, you need to stop and smell the pretzels!!! Relax, enjoy, before you have to go to work again!!! Love you both, and am really enjoying the blog!!!
Love the blogs... House hunting sounds like alot of fun... but what is this METER's thing? We work in feet over her in America. Let me guess? Gaby is 60 cm tall and Tony weighs 75 kg? Geesh!
My good friend EraseF301 has it right man. Keep all things German over there in Germany. I don't really care for your "metric system" and how its "easy" to understand cause everything is multiples of 10 and blah blah blah. I mean, if were gonna talk metric system we might as well just start making things up. By the way, I weigh in at a mere 23 stones. You? See what I mean? Its craziness, no one knows what Im talking about, just like you. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
