Monday and Tuesday of this week rang in the first (hopefully annual) Thurman sibling city take-over. Our target this year was Berlin, the very cosmopolitan German capital, a 2 hour bus ride (2.5 hours by train, 1.5 by car) from Dresden. We left at 9:15am on Monday morning (and almost didn't make it because of how crazy the three of us are), and got to Berlin a few hours later.
Berlin was a blast. I'm honestly not sure whether it's pure genius or absolute folly to unleash the three Thurman siblings unsupervised in another city, but we did it, and Berlin is the better for coping with us. It was so good to be with Kira and Jonathan, to make up for a little bit of time lost through the physical distance, and to explore Berlin. We weren't there for nearly long enough, a fact which we hope to use to our advantage in future negotiations for visits... :)
We walked down Unter den Linden (the Berlin equivalent of Paris' Champs Elysees), explored the German Reichstag (house of parliament), visited the Berliner Dom (gorgeous church!!), visited Museum Island, visited a technical museum, ate yummy food, and made friends with
the owners of our hotel (shameless plug: Please visit the Hotel Pension Charlottenburg if you're ever in Berlin--the owners are incredible, and so friendly. It's like staying with a close friend).
Jonathan and I came back on Tuesday in the hopes of catching some more hiking trails today... that didn't work out, but we're having a great, lazy day. Kira comes back from Berlin today, and the madness will undoubtedly continue. My poor, poor husband.
Jonathan/JT/the Boy/"Hey You"/the "Landlord" says: Erica, Kira, and you guessed it, me, went to Berlin. Berlin was cool we were walking in the city and we saw a bugatti dealership, and we saw a Bugatti Veyron. It used to be the fastest car until 2008. Kira ookt a picture of me next to it. We played a game when we would walk, and if we saw somene who was wearing something incredible(and when I say incredible i mean disgusting) the first person to call dibs got points awarded to them by how the others rate the outfit. Erica won because she would always see the worst outfits first. She spotted a lady who was wearing a big shirt with no pants on and
we rated it an eight.
We went to a technology museum. It was cool. They had a special math exibit which was interesting. Then we went to a place called museum island but we didnt stay for to long because we had to go to the bus.
