I really thought IŽd be telling you all so much more, but using the internet isnŽt cheap here, and we have so much to see. So, IŽll be frank, and post some pictures.
I came down with a cold in Interlaken, and spent much of the time resting. The weather wasnŽt so great, so being indoors wasnŽt killing me. On our last full day, Graham went canyoning, while I laid low. I knew that getting in the cold water would only make me feel worse. I needed to feel alive for bungey jumping, so after a nap, and a Red Bull, i was ready to go.
The scenery was incredible. We took a gondola, up a mountain, passing homes that looked like they could have been the home of Heidi. When we got towards the top, we had to take another gondola, and stop, halfway across a lake, sitting 135 meters below. I had to go 10th or 11th, and Graham went two after me. The anticipation was a bit annoying, and sitting in a tiny gondola with 15 or 16 people was rather uncomfortable. When my time came to jump, I let out a warriorŽs yell, and went
for it. I never really felt scared, and actually found the experience almost as peaceful as it was exhilerating. Graham seemed a little more uncomfortable than I did, but he jumped (like a savage), and loved it.
With that done, I could happily leave Interlaken. We took a train to Munich, where we stayed two nights. While there, we watched soccer (and the German and Turkish fans go crazy when their teams won), and went on a great bike tour around the city. We had a very charismatic guide, who was informative (enough) and more importantly, kept us entertained. We saw the main attractions, and made a pit stop in a giant beer garden.
Munich went by fast, and we then took off for Prague. I was still fighting off my cold, and the two of us were really exhausted. On our first night, we went to Old Town Square, and watched a soccer game on a giant Fanzone screen. The next day, we slept in, ate one of the best breakfasts weŽve had in Europe, and did some much, much needed laundry. Fortunately, we were in a very comfortable hostel, so lounging around was easy. That night,
we watched more soccer, and came back and went to bed early. We met some girls from D.C. who we became friends with, and went out with them for our last two nights. On our last full day, we paid for a bike tour, but about two minutes into it, I told our guide that I wanted to return the bike and get my money back. On our last night, i drank too much absinthe, and definitely felt it in my stomach as we took the train to Berlin.
We havenŽt been here long, but both Graham and I are real excited to be here. The city is very modern, yet also has enough history to keep us occupied for the next four days. So far, the people seem much friendlier than they did in the Czech Republic too.
WeŽre not sure if weŽll stop in Sweden or Denmark before going to Amsterdam. From Amsterdam, weŽll go to Paris, and then wrap it up in Spain, where we will for sure see Barcelona, San Sebastian, and Madrid.
Sorry that this is all so vague. When IŽm back in the states, IŽll gladly give more details, for a
drink or some food.
Ciao ciao
