Upto contiki day 4!

...For anyone that got the email, you have already read this. I want to put photos up with it at some stage, so i'm posting it as a blog. It's just a straight copy of that email so that explains why it reads the way it does!


Hi everyone!! A big hello from berlin!

I was hoping to do a proper blog update with photos but the internet cafe here wont let me. It took us over an hour of walking to find this place, so this is the best I can do ;)

How we all going?!?! I'm well. Freaking exhausted, but well.


So what's been happening?! Brief outline goes as follows. After my last blog update, spent two days in London looking around. Saw heaps more of the touristy sites. Went out to Greenwich (which for those who dont know is where the international GMT time meridian is), which was a pretty cool place. Had a pre departure meeting with contiki the friday night before, and met at like 6.45 am for the tour start.

Day 1 was meeting everyone on the bus, getting the ferry over from Dover to Calais across the english chanel, and driving to amsterdam. This was travelling through 4 countries in 1 day, being the UK, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. After checking into the hotel and having dinner, we headed out to Amsterdam. Saw (and participated in......... don't ask!!) a live Sex Show and checked out the red light district. After that it was out to a 'coffeeshop', and the rest of the night.... was a writeoff to put it simply!!

Amsterdam is an amazing city by night and by day, has amazing shopping and very friendly people. There's far more detail here but I#m gonna have to skip it for now!! Spent the day looking around amsterdam and had a big second night also.

Next day drove to Berlin, saw lots of it by night last night, it's a pretty interesting place with an amazing (and very recent) history. Today we did a walking tour of berlin, then walked around all around the place on our own. Tonight theres plans for drinks, there's an offer to get out to a Berlin club, but I think half of us are way too tired, so some of us might just get some sleep!!! Tomorrow we're on our way out to Prague, which should be an awesome experience. I'm hanging out for the Bier halls in München (Munich) and then white water rafting as we drive through Austria!!!!

Oh, our tour manager and contiki group in general are both pretty cool. Mostly everyone is easy going, it's about 60% aussies and then mixed between canadians and kiwis. And the weather since leaving london has been fan freaking tastic!

Few points to note. Stella in London tastes like shit. All german beers taste good. German keyboards are very similar to english but harder to use, z and y are switched, and all the '.,;:"@ kezs are in completely different places. Europe is expensive, but it seems worth it!!!! Im just over 1/5th through the holiday, but more than 1/3 through my camera memory card!! I'll come back with over 1500 photos probably. Oh, and the toilets in Germany clean themselves, the seat ROTATES! :P
