Me and The WallAren't people stupid? Why would they want to put a wall up between them?
Cows European Tour 2007
Cow Cat Finally we made it to Berlin!! Whooeee that was a long way, weather has been really cold and the back of Andy's bike is soooo cold. I gave in eventually and allowed him to stuff me inside his jacket, much warmer if slightly odourous...bikers do tend to get a bit whiffy on long journeys!
Berlin is another beautiful place, and until 1989 had been seperated by a wall. The city had been divided into four sectors immediately after the second world war, French, British, American and Russian. Unfortunately the Russians didn't get on well with the others and they blockaded the city. The other countries airlifted food in for nearly a year between June 1948 and May 1949, before the Russians gave this up as a tactic. The Russian sector however was walled off from the western sectors, and the people of Berlin, and indeed Germany were seperated for 40 years!!
In 1989, the border was re-opened and much of the wall was torn down by the cities occupants. I had a nice photo taken in front of one of the remaining pieces.
I tried some german beer today, it was in a stien and had lots of foam, or a big head as Andy called it. Bit like Ted he reckoned, which caused yet another row!
We're off to Amsterdam tomorrow, apparently Andy wants to go window shopping, and Ted needs some Waccy Baccy.
