So yes I have made it to Bremen. The countryside here is breathtaking. I mean really. It reminds me of pictures of Marin before all the people and when horses and cows were prevelent; or so I hear. Today was a lazy day. Laundry and walking around looking for a grocery store, which I splattered my yogert all over one of the isles. Go me. There are German Warmbloods every where. Horses, dairy cows, and sheep are the main thing here. At least that is what is smells like. Later in the afternoon there was that unmistakable smell of cow shit. I felt like I was back home, except for the 600 year old church staring at me with gold on its ficad. Aparently my german is worse than I thought. I understand more french than ... read more

i just arrived here. it was freezing cold during the airport transfer. They said that temp is around 3 degres celcius. Not something that i am used to have in the Philippines. well, at the airport, nobody speaks english except for the people in the airline announcing boarding of plane and of course in british accent. this is really catharsis!! 2 young girls at my left side speaks espanole of some sort.. while group of guys on the stall near c23 (the gate where i should be going to line up for boarding) speak russian. well, ams to bre was rather short, compared to the 15 hours i had on mla to ams. i rode klm airline.. well, the flight was somehow confy although at first the entertainment system wouldnt work so they needed to fix ... read more

BREMEN!!!! November 10-16, 2008 So sorry I’m way behind now with my blogs and will continue to apologize as I’m positive I’ll always be behind. So second week! I absolutely loved Bremen, it’s by far one of my favorite cities. Our hotel was ok and it was about 15 minutes walking distance from the center of the city. Bremen is definitely not a large city but has a beautiful center with a lot of character and history. One of the famous stories involving Bremen is the Bremen Town Musicians (German Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten, also translated as The Musicians of Bremen) which is a fairy tale recorded by the Brothers Grimm. Despite the title of the fairy tale the animals never actually arrive in Bremen. “In the story a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a ... read more

Since our last entry, we've spent more time in Copenhagen, visited the city of Malmo, Sweden, and traveled 7 hours south to the German city of Bremen. On our third morning in Europe, we caught the train to Malmo, about half an hour away from Copenhagen. Here we visited the Turning Torso, a high rise that turns 90 degrees and looks like a cloth being wringed out! We saw the old castle in town, and checked out other sites (fortunately all without having to pay). We then headed back to Copenhagen where we visited the famous Tivoli Gardens park, an amusement park with gardens, rides, games, and tons of theme restaurants (think pirate ships!). The claim to fame for the gardens would have to be the hellavator/swing ride. Essentialy, the ride shoots you up in the ... read more

End of Day 14 I had a shower and everything to feel fresh, checked the weather on the internet (not looking great) and then returned to my room, where I met a German guy Toby. I sat and read and went off to sleep! Day 15 - Hamburgers Up early again, I had breakfast with the English guy and a German lady, who was organising a volunteering camp. I then walked to catch the tram (without a ticket, thanks to the broken coin-operated machine) and then had a nice wait for the train to Hamburg - a fast train again taking little more than an hour and a quarter. In Hamburg (Germany's largest port; its second biggest city, half the size of Berlin; and also a separate German state) the S-Bahn immediately prooved efficient, and by ... read more
