Not nice, is how I would describe concentration camps, yet with my visit to Sacsenhausen, it was my fourth one, so I can't say that they don't have some kind of attraction for me. What that attraction is I'm not quite sure, whether its seeing up close the evidence of how sick humans can be, the organised, efficient, cold and ruthless manner in which the Germans carried out their genocide, or quite simply a way to fill in a day was a question I put to myself and as it remains unanswered, still put to myself.
After having visited the four major concentration camps from World War 2, I can't really say that it is something I would recommend to anyone, or that I took something postive from the experience. Infact the main thing I took from the experience is an uneasiness that the same thing, on the same scale will happen again, by which group against which group, no idea. In anycase it's the last time I will visit a german concentration camp....
