Memorial to The Murdered Jews Day 10 - Saturday Our last day in Berlin was devoted to programs. First, we went to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe located on the back side of the Brandenburg Gate. This was one of those programs that you go to pay tribute to those who died during the holocaust and reflect on what you would do if you were a Jewish citizen or German citizen. Would you go voluntary to a concentration camp, would you protest, would you aid those who were persecuted or would you do nothing? It was a tough place to visit but as Angela so profoundly said, “it should be tough for us to see.” If you want to learn more about this program, see

Next we had a briefing at the German Resistance Memorial Center. This Center's mission is to inform the public about the resistance to National Socialism by German Citizens. If you want to learn more about this Center, see . This is an extensive learning center that was recently given credit with the movie Valkrye with Tom Crusie. I had 3 on Friday and 2 on Saturday. Boy do I feel like a porker. But I’m justifying it by walking 5 miles per day. The coffee is a close second to McDonalds.
After Ka de Wy, we bought a cheesecake to take back to the hotel. We ended our last night at the hotel restaurant in honor of my good friend Carole Frier. She’s going home tomorrow, with Marti and Cate, and I will miss her. We ate traditional German food at
Last Night
Last Night in Berlin the hotel, celebrated her mid-year birthday with cheesecake and toasted her with beer. Yes you heard me, beer. I had a mug of dark beer, had it more for the glass mug, but nevertheless, downed some good old German beer. Not bad, tasted like Guinness stout. By the end of the evening, several of the DrakeSmart travelers ended up at the hotel bar.
Farewell to Berlin and looking forward to Munich. We have been on the road now for 10 days. The food, weather and bus travels have been good.
LongStory Short,
Ann
