Today Mia and I went on the trip with the school to Passau, a small town in Germany that the Danube river flows through. Passau is actually known as a river city because three different rivers all meet here, the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers.. We took the train there and got to see a lot of the countryside. When we got there we went to the two domes church first. We took a lot of pictures outside and walked around the courtyard for a little bit. Unfortunately, just like the Frauenkirche in Munich, one of the towers was under construction. There was a concert going on inside so we had to come back later to go in. After seeing the two domes we went to a traditional Bavarian restaurant and most of us got wiener schnitzel.
After lunch we went to the Danube river and saw the sight seeing point that we would later climb up on the other side. The weather was a little dreary though. It was a bit foggy and rained a little bit so it wasn't the best, but it didn't rain really hard which was good. We crossed the Danube and climbed up to
the highest point, which gave us a great view of Passau. We had extra time when we finally got back down to the bottom so we went inside the two domes church, which was really beautiful. We went inside another church nearby, which was pretty different from what I'm used to because there was a lot of black inside. Black wood and black statues and stuff like that.
Overall, I really liked Passau. It was a lot smaller than Munich and it was kind of a nice change from how busy Munich is all the time. I liked how much water there was everywhere since there are three rivers. The streets were nice too, with lots of little alleyways all through the town.
When we got back we had to go straight to the first museum on our list for the Long Night of Museums. But I had slept through my alarm that morning and had to get ready really fast to catch the train to Passau and I forgot to pack the tickets for the museums 😞 So as soon as we got to the first museum, Mia and I had to go all the way back
to my residence to get them, which took forever, then we had to meet up with the rest of the group at a museum that was pretty far away. We only ended up seeing two museums before the museum night was over and one wasn't even a museum. When we got to it, it turned out it was just a weird disco party and not even a museum... even though it was listed in the brochure of museums. The other museum we saw was the beer and Oktoberfest museum. Which pretty much had nothing to do with Oktoberfest. It was just a lot of random information. So the museum night was a failure, but at least Passau was pretty good.
