Munchen
New Munich Walking Tour
Our guide for the tour wasn't phenomenal, but she did show us the sights of Munich. We started at Marienplatz and watched the much over-rated Glockenspiel. We saw some pretty churches and our guide told us an interesting legend about the devil stomping his foot in one of them. We also saw the New Synagogue, the old and new town halls and the royal residences. Finally, we stopped by Hofbrauhaus, a large brewery with a beer garden, but we didn't get a chance to grab some food or drinks. Don't worry, I made it back there later.
Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Tour
This experience was not an enjoyable one of course, but definitely one I would recommend. We took a guided tour of the camp with a FANTASTIC guide. She was so eloquent and intelligent, so she really made the experience a very special one. I learned a lot about Dachau and took a few pictures, but there's really not so much to say. Horrible stories from the past that you can read about elsewhere, not my blog.
Sunset
On our last night in Munich, we climbed the steps to the top of a tower of a church for gorgeous 360 degree views of the city. If I can find a place where I can upload pictures ever, hopefully you'll see them.
Hofbrauhaus
After the sunset, we walked back over to Hofbrauhaus for some dinner and a beer. After that, we headed over to another beer garden for a different atmosphere. I liked the beer (Augustiner edelstoff) best from there!
Hostel Hopping
The street we stayed on in Munich was cool because there were 3 big hostels right in a row. The happy hours for each hostel bar were at different times throughout the evening, so people would just jump around the different hostels. It was really fun because I met so many people from all over the place!
