It’s Thursday morning and we all decide to go to a different Klamm “gorge”. This one is located on the way to Salzburg. We all pile into the cars and take off. Oh yea we had a great breakfast.
We get to the Klamm and everyone piles out and heads up to the Kasse that is where you pay to get in. Today Mandy gets all the tickets and were off up the tail. Will and Mark are leading the way running, I’m bring up the rear, knowing that they will soon be slowing down. I was right the first 30 minutes is up up up and up. We hiked for an hour to where the water fall starts. Will, Mark and Caroline played in the frigid water while the rest of us just relaxed and caught our breath. The trek back was much easier it was all downhill, I like downhill.
It’s lunchtime so we split up, Brain, Mandy and the kids head to the Salt mines and kirsten and I head off to find a nice spot to have a picnic lunch. We found a nice spot; we spread out our blanket sat down and ate. Soon
we both were asleep. Vrooom! What was that as I rolled over? A large truck speeds by. I look at my watch and we had slept for close to an hour.
After lunch and a great nap we headed downtown to Berchtesgaden. We’re all meeting there so the boys can go ride the bob sleigh and the girls can go shopping. We meet up and we then split up and head our separate ways. The guys pile into Brian’s car and were off to have some fun. We head toward Obersalzberg; we catch the gondola up the side of the mountain which puts us out where the Bob sleigh ride is located. Up until now Brian, Will and Mark have been so so not knowing what to expect. As we round the bend Will and Mark stop in their tracks and both yell out COOL! They both then bolt toward the Kasse and get in line looking back toward Brain and I saying hurry up. Brian gets lots of tokens and hands each of us one.
Will is first, Mark is second, Brain is next and I’m last. We all watch as Will makes the run he has
no fear, Mark takes a cautious approach. Brian takes off and he having a normal run until he comes into the second turn and wipes out. Brain; the sign clearly says break, hey It’s in German. Oh yea, Sorry. I make my run and I do great. When we all get back to the top Will and Mark are vibrating to get back in line for their next run. I look at Brian as he’s rubbing his arm and said can I buy you a beer? Yea, what is the word for break? Beats me I just slowed down. We’re sitting up top enjoying our beer; Brian is digging into his pocket getting ready to purchase more tokens when Will and Mark run up Wills rubbing his arm. Marks says yea Will wiped out just like you dad. We decide to stop while we ahead with no broken bones. Of course Will and Mark don’t like our decision, as we walking away I hear Mark and Will discussing their runs down the hill and comparing their speed and technique. I think they enjoyed it.
We all meet back at the house, of course Will and Mark tell Oma and
Opa how much fun> Mandy immediately spots that Brian was rubbing his arm, He was looking for attention and got it.
Kirsten and Oma fix a roasted chicken dinner with mushroom sauce over noodles. MMMM Good. We all chow down. After dinner Kirsten reads that in Ramsau they are having a concert. So we pile into the car, Oma and Opa immediately want to go and we head down the road looking for the Concert. We found it we drop off Oam and Opa and they go and get us a seat while we park the car. It lasted little more than an hour and it was very nice.
When we get back to the house we get in and Will is waiting for us to play cards. So we play cards and Will wins again.
