Finally made it to germany after a long and painful trip over. Our first leg of our flight was just a layz 9 ours followed by a 14 our stop over in bang-cock lol. As it was Sarahs 21st we decided to head out to a night club to celebrate. We went to a local nightclub which we were treated like royatly at and every female in the place wanted to take us home! We had a few drinks which were followed by a few to many which made the second leg of our trip quite a seedy one you might say. After 11 ours of being squashed like sardines we finally got to germany at 7pm. From there we made the short drive to Augsberg where we were staying....which brings me to now! n e ... read more

My first stop after finishing in Bremen was Augsburg where there are another 7 RMIT Aero students working. Augsburg itself was a cute little town, it seemed quite traditional and as a result had plenty of fashion shops selling the traditional Bavarian costumes. Augsburg was also a great base for visits to Munich and while there I made a couple of trips there. One of the things I saw there was the Deutsches Museum because everyone had told me it was a must see, I even heard rumors that someone I know took 3 days to see it because it was so big. I can’t believe how huge the place is and the collection is pretty amazing but unfortunately it is one of the few poorly translated attractions in Germany. For the most part there was ... read more

Having spent two semesters at the University of Augsburg, I wanted to go back for a look at the town ten years on. Little appeared to have changed much as we wandered through the campus and the Unikum cafe bar seemed to be doing as good a trade as ever on a sunny day. After stocking up with picnic ingredients en route we set off for a pleasant walk through the SiebentischWald towards Kuhsee to go for a swim. Unfortunately, my memory of the paths through the wood isn't what it used to be, so we saw far more of the wood than intended before managing to decipher the directions offered by a passing cyclist (with an outstanding example of the odd local dialect). Jumping in for a much needed cooling swim we first noticed the ... read more

Disclaimer: We’re too busy to play on the internet and update this often. Plus, it’s been hard to find an internet café so far. So we’ll update when we can. Love you all. Day 1 - To Frankfurt We got off well from Seattle but getting to Cincinnati was another story. We flew around in circles waiting for the severe thunderstorms to end. The pilot came on saying we were being diverted to Indianapolis. No way. You’ve got to be kidding. All the thoughts of how this would really screw up our first few days in Germany starting flying through my head. As it was with everyone else on board that was flying to Germany. The pilot came on again about 20 minutes later saying we’re now heading to Dayton because we have no more fuel. ... read more

i still cannot escape the 'second stop symthom', although paris is really a fasinating city, i still felt lack of security. 因為慕尼黑旅舍早已爆滿,想起04年到過附近的Augsburg(離慕尼黑約半小時車程),感覺甚佳,因此這一段我選擇住在Augsburg。 today morning, i checked out at 8 a.m. and walked towards the metro station, and the gates just kept closed down! i walked along the street heading Paris Gare du Nord, hoping to get on a taxi, but unsuccessed. finally i asked a woman by the bus stop (she spoke fluent english!), she taught me to take a bus. but the bus suddenly changed it's route (maybe because of the traffic jam), i missed the best chance to get off to run into the north station, instead it took me to the east station, by the time of gettig off, i had already cried out at least thee f__k s. luckily when i stepped ... read more

Hi everybody. I’m in a peaceful little corner of Bavaria near Augsburg, enjoying the hospitality of Herr Biggs and Frau Eva, typing here on a keyboard with the Y and Z in the right place while Jonny peruses a former GDR property magazine, wondering which 12,000 euro castle would make the better investment. True to recent travel form my last couple of weeks has been an enjoyable high-speed blur, but I’ll attempt to recap. The random turn in the trip had me arriving in a cold, grey Munich with a fresh suntan. I’d had some second thoughts about my hasty decision to fast-track to central Europe, but have not regretted the move at all. The two nights in Munich was a great introduction. I joined up with an American from the hostel and stumbled across a ... read more

I think this was the longest time I’ve spent with my oldest sister and her family—sad, but true. And, as they say, better late than never, right? Hah. Anyhow, I was lucky enough to be able to convince Lee to have a real Thanksgiving, which they hadn’t celebrated for years. After toting my luggage to class and to work, I made it safely to Germany on Wednesday night and was met by Lee at the airport. Thanksgiving was celebrated on Friday evening, so we spent most of Thursday and Friday cooking, which was tons of fun. Living in someone else’s house and having someone cook ever meal for me, I´ve really missed cooking, or at least being allowed free range of a kitchen. Plus, anyone who knows either Lee or me, knows that our focus was ... read more

Day 10 - Tuesday 22nd February Augsburg is about 50 miles North West of Munich so hopefully the journey will be quick. I walked to the Autobahn and success, the first lift was direct to Munich and in fact, the driver dropped me outside of Jochen's hospital at noon. Jochen had a broken jaw and so was not very communicative. The orderly kindly provided me with some lunch and I head off to register at the Youth Hostel. Time for some sightseeing and the Deutsche Museum was recommended - meet Michael and Heather. Very impressive especially the mining exhibition plus bridges, rivers and transport - alas the astronomy section was closed. Next stop Post Restante for any mail. We meet some English and Norwegians who are working in Munich and we go back to their accommodation ... read more
