Not that eating is the number one reason to travel, but I think if I had to guess, I ate about 2 dozen croissants this weekend and about just as many crepes. But in addition to Pastry heaven, Paris was wonderful. I saw pretty much every touristy thing possible...the Luxembourg palace, the Champs Elysees Avenue, the Louvre, the Musee d'Orsay, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Moulin Rouge, the Arc de Triumph, the mini model of the Statue of Liberty, and, of course, the Eiffel Tower (during the day, at night for the light show, and from the top inside). My absolute favorite was the Notre Dame Cathedral. Coincidentally, we're studying gothic architecture in Art History right now, so it was an additional satisfaction to be able to point out all the gothic structures (..in spanish). I ... read more

in regards to my title-- I am a road warrior b/c I 1) went to a brand new country all by myself and 2)biked about 20 miles in one day. a month or so ago i noticed that i could get roundtrip flights from london to brussels for about $50 during the end of november. Last week I didn't have any classes and last weekend my study abroad program was paying for me to go to London for the weekend, so I decided to take advantage of my free time and free travel to London to finally go back to mainland Europe. I've really wanted to go to Belgium for awhile since seeing pictures of Bruges on a "Europe's Famous Hostels" pamphlet. So, I went. Getting to where I wanted to go (Bruges) was kind of ... read more

25 Febrero 2004.

When people think of popular international cities, it’s for sure that Paris pops into mind. A city home to the Eiffel tower and the Louvre, on everybody’s list to go see. How did I end up being so lucky that I have this chance to go? With all of these trips I’ve been able to go on, not once have I lost sight of that. I count my blessings with every train ride and plane boarding. I’m so ridiculously lucky, I feel guilty. Paris. It’s a huge, romantic, and quite expensive city. There is a good size group of us going, which makes it that much more of a happening in school. Almost everyone is leaving Valencia this weekend to embark on an adventure. About twenty of us board the Ryan air flight, with a million ... read more

So I'm going to be honest. Today was the first birthday where at 12:01AM the first thing that came out of my mouth was "damn... I'm getting old." .... Anyway I'm off to Barcelona for a 36 hour trip to meet up with an old friend from high school in a random part of the world on a 16EURO plane ticket. Kindda crazy! Blog update later, I promise! p.s. thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes. Et bonjour Derek--I didn't know you read my blog!... read more

So joined this food tour around Bordeaux today, and it was actually more than fooood! The guide brought us to the different places around town and explained some stuff about the buildings and things as well! quite informative and interesting! Found out the whole city was demolished and rebuilt in the 18th cent. so most buildings are either Louis XV or Louis XVI style! haaa and you can tell the difference by looking at the way they decorate above the windows....coooool! The tour first, went to this very nice cafe, had this creamy cofffeee thats like the blizzard ice cream from Dairy Queen! it wont fall when you hold it upside down! haaaaa!!! and they had brilliant hot chocolate! the so-called secret receipe....haaa! They also made the famous cake from the region, Canele? dunno but it ... read more

How Many Boobs Did You Count?? November 19, 2007 After a quiet week around the house in Rognonas, Justin and I left on the TGV for Paris Saturday November 10th. The ride up was so peaceful, forging through the French country side at 200 miles per hour. You never feel you are going that fast but Paris is 450 miles away and you are there in 2.5 hours. Sure beats the 8 hours drive we took back on October 1st. Justin really enjoyed being on the “bullet train” as we don’t have train travel in the US, really. It is a fun experience to zip across an entire country while relaxing with a good book. We arrived at Gare de Lyon and metro-ed problem free to our “Paris apartment” to meet Becky and Gus. We were ... read more
