The evening of our second day in charming Verneuil-Sur-Avre, a tiny town about an hour by train west of Paris , and we're fully convinced of the benefits of life in
la campagne . We arrived yesterday, greeted at the train station by our maitre Jean-Paul Sevilla, and some of the other students we're studying alongside for the next three weeks - two lovely ladies from Australia. Immediately hustled to our hosts' home for a lovely tea in the
jardin with M.Sevilla and we were thrown into real French Culture in an instant.
Another couple of Australians arrived later on, after our opening BBQ at M.Sevilla's villa - to be a much anticipated event each week at the end of the lessons. Losing no time, practice and lesson schedules were assembled just as quickly as friends were made and food devoured off the table. A wonderful beginning to an arduous course.
Ours were the first lessons of the course, beginning this morning at the early hour of 10! We were up by 7.30 for breakfast and then off to L'école de musique to practice. At some point before our lesson, M.Sevilla came by with the other students to show them the practice facilities and on seeing us there, asked curiously:
So did you sleep here, or what?
Our first lessons were, in any case, great, but there'll be no shortage of practicing for the both of us in the next little while..!
We're staying with a kind French couple, friends of M.Sevilla, in a very cozy room.
We'll take photos soon!!
Ps: For those of you who asked - the new pictures from last post were just added onto the Paris album:
