"Let's go to Geneva !!" announced Wendy the Navigator, early one morning. She chose early as your correspondent is usually rather discombobulated at that time and Cusco the Chief Spaniel is still fast asleep - or at least pretending to be to avoid making decisions. All in all, we were soon packed into our little car, passports in hand as officially we were leaving the EU. We must look a very trusting trio, as the Swiss immigration just waved us through. Parking in where we hoped was close to the centre,we ambled down to the lakeside, passing very, very, very expensive looking shops and dragging Wendy away from them. The lake was indeed full of water, as well as the famous water fountain/spout which the more alert will know what I mean, if I say The ... read more

The drive from Trevoux via Lyon to St Gervais, started by getting lost at the first roundabout. As you may imagine, this cheered your correspondent no end, as I looked forward to the rest of the four hour journey. We start with a map, which I don't have now, so I won't be precise on walked through charming villages, but first, we went to St. Nicolas de Veroce, then down and crossed Bon (spring) Nant, I would say pretty big size creek or even small mountain river and then up towards my "Green mountain" - Vorassay. Probably, we were not good oriented or not sure what was the goal as we made quite a loop visiting another village and then only got on the main trail around Mont Blanc, which led to Vorassay. right ... read more

11th of June: packed our things, went for a walk around Passy lake, shopped for food, went to Peter's friend, purchased rain coat-big expence for me, but together visited nice place, exciting driving and getting ideas of more hikes around. Arrived at the chalet - our new stay for the remaining time in Alps. We said warm good bye with all appreciation to Peter. Settled in and decided to go to the closest hike towards Mont Joly. Nice hike through small villages, more cow herds with the bells, Walking on the road through big forest. Took wrong turn, got back, headed other direction and then signs appeared. We heading to bare mountains with kind of new path on the slope, which had few snow tongues still hanging. after crossing few, Jovita decides to go back, I ... read more
