Seine RiverA view of Il de la Cite, the island formed by the splitting of the Seine River, the location of Notre Dame Sainte Chapelle, and more.
Well, a lot has happened in the past two weeks, so we thought we would give you a quick update and share some pics.
We had incredibly good weather when we visited Paris with Kathy and Dennis Gregory. We had great food and visited all the major sites: Eiffel Tower, Seine River, Notre Dame, Sainte Chapelle, Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees, Louvre Museum, Orangerie Museum, Orsay Museum, Pompidou Center, Sacre Coeur, Luxembourg Gardens, and more. We also spent a day with the Gregorys in Monaco where, in their 10 minutes in the casino, they won 250 euros. Monaco is a beautiful mountainous area on the Mediterranean Sea. We visited Monaco Ville, the rock fortress that houses the Palace, the grave of Princess Grace, the Jacques Cousteaux Aquarium, and more.
Due to their short visit, we stuck close to Marseille with John and Betty Dumonceaux. We went to mass at the gothic church Saint Vincent de Paul, ate crepes Nutella at Vieux Port, visited St. Victor Abbey (first built in the 3rd century) and Notre Dame de la Garde, and then took a boat ride out to Chateau Ile d’If, the prison island near Marseille that was in the Alexander Dumas
Sainte ChapelleSainte Chapelle is almost entirely stained glass windows. While it may not have the rich history of Notre Dame, it is esthetically more beautiful.
novel The Count of Monte Cristo. John and Betty then headed to Nice and then on to Rome for a week. If their stay in Rome was as good as Paris and Marseille, we know they will be hooked on coming back to Europe—the only question is how soon.
As you know, we have a “green” clothes dryer—a la natural—at our apartment. Occasionally, a garment will slip from the clothesline for one reason or another. This happened to one of our visitors (who will remain anonymous), but they were fortunate enough to have their panties land on the clothesline of the apartment below. So as to not lose the valuable garment, we constructed a fishing pole of sorts and went fishing for panties (see photo).
Lew and Nancy Waltman arrive this afternoon, and so we will report our journey with them on our next blog.
We are already looking forward to our May visitors!!
Happy trails to all of you,
Kathy and Garry
The rump of Notre DameThe flying buttresses and gargoyles of the side and rear of Notre Dame add to its beauty.
Eiffel TowerThe Eiffel Tower is lit up in yellow/gold lights at night, and then at the top of each hour, white lights flash all over the tower. A sight to behold.
Monaco VilleThe original village of Monaco was a fortress up on large, flat rock structure, now known a Monaco Ville. The casinos, beaches and harbors are below. Kathy Duncan flanked by Kathy and Dennis Gregory

Fishing for PantiesThe story behind this celebrated photograph will be told by the Duncans to their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
