Vive la France!!

Heathrow's Terminal Five is awesome - huge - and even has comfy looking lounge/beds in the waiting area.
With the short hop from London to Paris on British Airways it wasn't long before we were back in a hire car once more. Having returned our Renault Megane at Heathrow - driving on the left - we picked up a Toyoto Yaris at Charles de Gaulle - driving on the right. Luckily it was pretty easy to drive out of the airport and on to the A1 heading for Lille - no problems there!! But it was then up to the driver (Kev) to keep up a speed of 125-140 kms to avoid holding up the traffic, including the numerous trucks using the road!! It was a challenge - but we managed to keep our cool, arriving in Corbie around 6.30pm. We felt pretty pleased with ourselves as we settled into the hotel and went to the bar for a much needed drink!!!
Kev wasn't in a mood to go out again after dinner - I was raring to go so I walked the 3.50 kms to the National Australian Military Museum on the road between Corbie and Villers-Bretonneux. There was no one else there but me - well not another living soul but hundreds of the departed soldiers from the Great War. The sun was beginning to set, lending a magnificent sheen to the verdant fields (mostly growing potatoes), the villages on the horizon and the stark white crosses. It was a scene of great peace and tranquility - a lone rabbit ran across the manicured lawns surround the graves, numerous birds were twittering while a crow standing on a soldiers grave flew off as the noise of me opening the camera lens startled it. By the time I returned to the hotel - in the centre of the village directly opposite a huge church - at around 10.15pm it was still not dark. In a pensive mood, Kev's snoring when I returned to our room quickly brought me back to the present!!
