I did it again.
woke up, turned off alarm and went back to bed. I keep trying to think about a quote that someone from volleyball told me, which is, 'it is only a mistake if you make it a few times, again and again.' I was to start school at 10 on Monday, as the teacher of english, my first lesson, had a conference, and I dont think they do relief teachers here. Roxane forgot and came by at 8:05 whilst i was sleeping. Michel reminded her, and woke me up at 9am to my colossal embarrassment. He then drove me to my last day at Youcenar. School was fairly uneventful, in the morning; except Antoine and Kevin sort of found me and asked me to eat le repas with them. I was, of course, delighted. Lunch was good, which was so great, as it was my last school meal and I wanted it to be a good one. It was sausages, potato mash, milk-rice dessert, you get the picture. But it was wonderful to eat with people and to talk to them and not be mute. At the end of the meal, we went to the line to put away our plates, and Antoine said: 'I follow you' so I corrected him, saying: 'I am following you.' He then explained the english grammar which justified his phrase. Gosh dang I wish they taught english properly in Australia! I then had my last science-physic and farewelled the champion teacher. Then I has SES, and at the end we had a class photo. I waited for Anne-So who was in a maths exam, and talked with some frenchies before being told that my host sis finished at 6, and considering it was not yet four, I should probably head hope. I went to town first, eating a lemon tart. Then I trammed it and continued packing. Maryse taught me how to make the cake she had prepared for my birthday! It is complex but I hope to make it in Aus in the future. At about eight thirty, Anne-So and Sarah came home; and we started dinner, a quiche and salad, just like my first day here. Then Béne, Didi, and Roxane came over for a mini-fête, my last meal in Rouillon. We had galettes, cake, orangina, chocolate and just laughed alot. It was a really happy time. The Bourdais' have some friends whose son was really interested in Australia, so Benjamin came over for the festivities also. Just being together, me and my french bffs was génial. Lots of photos were taken, and I think all of us were quite happy. When the time came to leave, I gave the core four a little australian animal toy and a short note, and béné started crying. So of course, I did and Anne-So also. With alot of control, we regained composure. Then didi said his final goodbye, and I was a gonner. Maryse, Michel, Anne-So and I had like a team hug, and then I went upstairs and continued packing with the sis. Maryse came to say goodnight, and goodbye cos she would be leaving earlier than I the next morning, so I gave some australian presents that mum had sent over, and then we all went to bed. I dont really have any desire to leave. I have a life here, if that makes sense. And as much as I miss my family and friends in Aus, its very tough to be leaving.
