I probably should have typed that when I ate my first gourmondaise, as they are probably on par, but yesterday I had one that was the king dog! It is called a pain au chocolat amandes, and it is best described as amazing.
I'll start at the beginning of the day. School started at 8, on a saturday, I know, and Anne-Sophie had a four hour physics/chem exam, so was a bit stressed. I had spanish and history, so I worked on uses of the infinitive and the pronoun en. Then we had p.e , badminton again, and I have definatley improved. Two girls were really nice to me, and let me be in their group etc. I wont forget their kindness. Anne-Sophie, Maryse and I went to town after this, and had lunch in a cafe at the centre jacobins. I had a very filling panini, yum yum. We shopped around for a few hours, me buying a denim skirt and blue/white striped blouse. I have realised that I have progressively become a very conservative dresser. I think it is because I wear jeans every day, but I just find putting together decent outfits here impossible. And my increased BMI is certainley not making life easier. Anyway, we lost track of Maryse, and there was a protest on at the Place de la Rèp, so it took us a while to get home. Before doing so, I bought my delicous new bff. We took the tram, bumping into Didi, and then sat in the childcare centre by the heater whilst we waited for the bus. When we saw it we bolted, running down past the patinoire to get on board and go home. Michel took us to my second home, the boulangerie, and we got bread for the dinner. We also took one brioche with chocolate for anne-so, and a loaf with figs and nuts, which I adore. I love the boulangerie cos the woman who works there is ridiculously nice, and very friendly. Also everything tastes amazing, so it is a win-win situation. Antoine, a school friend of Anne-Sophies, came over after we returned, as he was going to help her with some maths homework. He is a champion. I went for a 20 minute run, and had a raclette for dinner with the gang + Antoine. Because it was my last weekend, I got to choose what we did, and so Sarah came over for a half hour, and then left, and after that Béné and Didi came over. Béne hadnt had dinner, so we had a kind of french midnight feast. It wasnt midnight, but we just ate and ate and ate. At least, I did. The food was great, and we just laughed and were merry. That sounds lame but it was just good company, if you know what I mean, the five of us in the kitchen laughing and eating and talking. We watched a bit of tele afterwards, and slowly people left, went to bed etc.

In contrast we have been enjoying tomatoes, with fresh bread, as sandwiches, on toast, tomorrow with toasted pitta bread perhaps. Ah the simple pleasures of life! And stone fruit grapes rockmelon, and of course the srawberries from the road side stall outside Mount Compass are hard to beat. But the food sounds great Mads.
