This will be a quick update, since I only have 15 minutes of internet and French keyboards are laid out differently than the ones at home. We took the ferry out of Rosslare, Ireland on Saturday evening, and arrived in Roscoff, France on Sunday morning. It was chilly on Saturday, so Im sure that we didnt see Rosslare in the best way, but when we got to France on Sunday morning, I got a great impression of Roscoff. Its a nice, old, small port town on the Northwestern tip of France, and I really wouldnt have minded spending some time there, but we only had a couple of hours before we caught a train here to Paris. It took about four hours or so to get here from there, but we still had a bit of ... read more

..but this about Paris so I thought I would publish it as if I was there. We did a whirldwind tour of all that is free and cheap in Paris. We had both been to the museums before so we skipped those but checked out the catacombs and the Pantheon which is huge and it is hard for me to understand how a building like that exists. All these huge paintings and columns and domes with a crypt of a tron of famous Frenchmen below, pretty sweet. We also did two day trips from Paris in one day becasue we are travel ninji like that. We woke up early and caught the train to Versailles, and instead of paying like 20 euro to get into the palace we just walked through the 3 kilometeres of gardens ... read more

Our last stop before heading back to Holland is Paris. Paris is all it is made out to be, a beautiful city with lots of history and charm. It really is the city of romance I guess from seeing couples snogging every couple of steps you take. This is where Pip has just joined me and speaking of romance, guess what?????? Nothing. Went up the Eiffel Tower on quite a windy day and was almost blown off. Would be a better place if they had bungee jumping. We are staying so close to the Eiffel Tower that every time we step out our hotel we have to be reminded by another tourist gasping at it that it actually exists. We are also only a short walk from the Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysee. Dad got ... read more

We left London to go to Paris today. I wanted so badly to be wearing the outfit from breakfast at tiffany's it hurt. When I saw the view from the hotel I almost cried. There were all of these amazing tin roofs and the eiffle tower! That's right I left eye tracks ALL over that freaking tower; all on it, in it and around it! After settling into the hotel, not at all. We were off to the the champs elisie (which I have not spelled right at all). And then we met this amazing man who makes crepes. It was spectacular and he spoke to me in french and I thought I was understanding him but I wasn't it. Antics ensued. But he called me pretty so that's all that really matters right? ... read more

This weekend a group of us went to Paris. As a traveler, I did not plan on touring Paris when I first came on this trip. As my stay in Paris was rather short, I did take in alot! Friday night we checked into our hotel, bought metro passes (which turned out to be invaluable), and went to the Eiffel Tower! I saw the sunset over the Eiffel Tower! (big deal to you, I was like a child in a candy store) The entire city of Paris has so much beauty that I can not even begin to describe, or give the city justice. As the sun started to go down, the Eiffel Tower was lit with lights, and it's glow was delightful. (However for 10 minutes of ever hour during the night the tower blinks...I ... read more

Go Trippin' Paris is a place where no matter where you choose to stay, there is something exciting in every arrodisment. Hotel Plessis was conveniently located near several metros which was easy for us to get around. However, we did get lost trying to find the hotel and had to ask for help. Luckily, the guy we ask was so nice he pulled out his cell phone and called the hotel to ask for directions for us and pointed us to the right way. Who says the ... read more

Saturday, the 24th of June Started out our train ride today by almost missing our train. We were an hour early, and a train pulled into our platform within 10 minutes of our being there. We thought it was a different train and would be moving on, but time wore on and the train didn’t move. Margaret had gone down off of the platform looking for drinks, and Erin and Jesse were on the platform looking at the train, looking at their watches, looking at the train, etc….We finally looked closely at the train and noticed a digital sign that showed our transfer station, looked at the tickets again, and realized that after a good 15 or 20 bikes had already boarded, and filled the bicycle car, that we were supposed to be on that train! ... read more

Today is Saturday. The sky started out cloudy but now, at 7 pm, the sun is out and the sky is blue. One thing that I have noticed is how long the daylight lasts here. It isn't dark by 10 pm and the streets are very busy much later than that. I had an interesting day yesterday. I set out to explore by myself and made my way to "Little Italy" and Paris' Chinatown, which are side-by-side and at the same Metro station. The Chinese, although very visible here by their numbers, don't seem to accumulate in one part of the city, like in Richmond, for example. There were actually very few shops but quite a selection of Asian restaurants: Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese. And then, stuck in the middle of little Italy, I ran ... read more
