So much has been happening! So the last update was wednesday of last week. Since then we've moved into the guide houses! It's so nice to have a couch and a kitchen and the places are so nice!! I'm roomates with Kaitlyn, from PEI, she's super nice and fun so I'm so happy! Faye has her own room on the same floor as me, and then Elise and Sam share a room in the third floor, and so do Maya and Crescence. Kariane, a return guide who gets here tomorrow, will have the last spot in the house on St. Aubert Street, Arras, France. So far it's been going really well. I came home Thursday night to a huge Roast beef meal with potatoes and carrots made by Maya and Elise the first day and it was AMAZING! Then the next night I made my homemade spaghetti sauce for everyone with Elise and with a salad. Tonight we had some cheese pies that Kaitlyn got at the Festival Andouillette (but more on that later).
Work has been going well, I'm really getting into the swing of things. I made somebody cry on Thursday too! We've all officially brought someone to
GPS! The great Pattie System!
I found the nearest metro stop using my map :) tears so we must be a pretty good team huh? I have the most fun when there are lots of kids, they're usually a lot of fun and want to participate lots.
I spent Friday getting settled into my new place my room is clean (Currently) and clothes are clean (for now) and bed is made (well not actually but it was for a very brief period of time). It feels good to be all settled here. I went grocery shopping and got a lens for Eric's fancy camera so I can use it on trips.
Speaking on trips I took my very first trip to Paris yesterday!! AND believe it or not (Keith you probably won't) I was the CHIEF NAVIGATOR! I bought a book before I left about France (Rick Steeves) so I brought the pull out map with me on our trip. Steph, Cres and I went first to the Louvre, where I saw the Mona Lisa, Napolean's Apartments, and Venus Adonis. It was absolutely beautiful and it's so cool to have gone there! Next Crescence wanted to go to some jewlery stores, but then we got lost, SO I pulled out my map while
we sat and ate lunch along St. Germain. After lunch we went to les Jardins de Luxembourg, which were so nice! I'd love to spend a day there with a good book, baguette and bottle of wine. Baguette is the one stereotype that is true about French, you see people all the time walking around with giant baguettes every day from the boulangerie ( bakery). After that we went to Notre Dame de Paris, just as it started to downpour. We went inside to keep dry and see where Quasimodo used to live (I want to watch the Hunchback of Notre Dame tonight 😊 Next we took the metro to the Eiffel Tower, we didn't go up ( lines were HUGE) but I am happy I got to see it and got some good pictures in front of it. Next time I'm in Paris I'll beeline it straight for the Eiffel tower so I get there before the crowds! After this we took the metro again to L'arc de triomphe and then walked down the Champ d'Elysees. I found my new favourite store (naf naf) and bought a top, belt and a cute trench coat that is a burnt coral

Oh so many jumping shots color. After this we went to Galerie Lafayette because Cres really wanted a Longchamps bag. I guess they're really popular back home but super expensive but here they were way cheaper because they're a Parisian company. Anyway, Steph and Cres both got bags which is great. Then we made it JUST in time for our train, and we got home around 9.
After that I hung out with everyone for a bit and we just had wine and got ready to go out to a party at the other house but then they cancelled the party to go to bed early. We weren't tired though so we stayed up and hung out and it was tons of fun.
Today I was back at work, and John gave a VIP tour for a special Senator. I got to give one tour this afternoon which was good. I spent lots of time talking to Kevin, our securitas agent in French, so it's getting better slowly but surely...
Tonight in la grande place in Arras there was the festival d'andouillette (some kind of tripe/sausage?) I didn't have any andouilette but I did go on all the rides! Lots of fun!
So, Bruges and Brussels are officially booked for Friday with Crescence, Kaitlyn and Gorana. Can't wait, and I'll have another update then 😊
