Highlight(s)

• Getting a sense of the community whilst walking through the Bastille Market
  
• Relaxing lunch at the bistro near the cemetery
  
• The impromptu tour by the local cemetery expert.

Odd Spot(s)

• It will cost you a lazy 12,000 Euro per person to be laid to rest at the cemetery.
  
• Plots can accommodate up to 25 family members (they dig 'em deep). Layer upon layer: coffin, slab of rock, coffin, slab of rock ...
  
• Many have already booked their spot at the Paris cemetery. There were a number of graves that had the family name and no other details on a new head-stone.
  
• Graves that happen to be very close to a big tree will remain forever - even if the occupants are not famous - in respect for the environment.
  
  
• Gelati count = 0

Bastille Market
Hard to get a feel for the size of the market in the photo. The produce looked amazing - butchers, poulet, seafood and fruit and veg stalls stretched for miles.

Communal gardens
Between the rows of apartment buildings - in the middle of the road - there are playgrounds for les enfants and shared vegetable gardens.

Musee Picasso
We - along with many others - were disappointed to find the Picasso Museum closed for renovations.

Navigating the Metro
We purchased a weekly Metro pass from the airport. Still amazing how well engineered and efficient the system is. And the maps are easy to read too.

Le Pere Lachaise

Cemetary Policy
After 100 years - unless you are famous or royal - they dig you up and make way for new plots. This one is up for grabs next year.

Simple grave - laid to rest with family - including her two year old daughter.

Convenience
The crepe man is on our way home from the Metro station. Hard to resist.
