Louvre
Breath taking to see this in person! So it doesn’t even matter what happened first thing in the morning (cept for the fact that I was feed for free!), because once I made it to the Louvre and saw the glass pyramid outside, everything stopped. It was amazing. It was breath taking. Hardly ever am I the person who stops and ‘awwws’ at buildings and the such, but this .. wow, I can’t even describe it. In fact, I don’t know why it’s the Mona Lisa that attracts everyone to the Louvre and not the pyramids. If for no other reason, this alone has made my visit to Paris worth while.
After many minutes of just standing around and taking pictures and looking at the pyramids this way and that way, and almost slipping in the process, I decide to go in. I got to the Louvre early and there wasn’t even a line to buy my ticket. The first thing I do is go to see the Mona Lisa. I was warned a head of time by Susan that she was small, but still felt that I couldn’t leave Paris without a formal “hello”, or is that “Bonjour”, wait, isn’t she Italian? Regardless, she was one of
Me!
Yay, I see this in person! the three things I wanted to check out. On the way I saw many fascinating art works, but everything was written in French (and I’d have to pay over $20 for a book in English to tell me what’s what, so I think I missed a lot). I took pictures of the paintings I liked the most and maybe will check them out online. As I made my way to the Mona Lisa, I was thankful for my Christian background. There were so many painting of Christ and his life, and other Bible stories that I was glad I could relate, though to be honest after a few halls it got old and I stopped caring. Finally there she is! I found her! And almost walked by her, she’s in a room with other paintings, but behind glass and you can only get so close. Maybe because I don’t understand art like so many, I don’t understand the main attraction with her, but regardless I got caught up in the hoopla and took my pictures! She looks just like the photos make her out to.
One cool thing about the Louvre is that throughout you’ll find people standing around and
Mona Lisa
Can tell which is me and which is the Mona Lisa? I bet you can't.... making their copies of the art work. I figured the museum was cool with this cause it gives us visitors a deeper understanding of everything that is involved in producing this masterpiece. I didn’t realize all the skill that went into making these works of art.
Afterwards I found myself in a food court in some in door mall type thing that is attached to the entrance and exit of the Louvre. I wasn’t sure what to eat, so after pacing up and down a few times, I figured I’d try some quiche looking thing. I’m glad the woman who served me spoke English (or at least enough) cause the one I pointed too had meat I don’t eat in it. I choice the one with chicken and broccoli, but honestly there was only two bites of chicken in it. Regardless, it was super yummy.
From there I figured I should check out Notre-Dame. It was supposed to rain later in the day, and a part of me wished I would have done Notre-Dame first and then the Louvre second, but after seeing the long lines at all three or four ticket counters to get in, I’m happy that I
Dunno the name..
But I really like this one! choice to go early to the art museum.
So far I’ve been awesome at figuring out the metro in Paris. I was hoping that would continue today because I forgot my map :/. It ended up after getting off the subway I took the wrong direction. I saw some building that had a cross on top it and went that way (thinking that honestly was the right way and that building was my proof), after walking around and not seeing anything, I thought I should go back and find a subway that takes me closer to the Notre-Dame, cause I’m not seeing it! Then I realize, I needed to be heading towards the Eifel Tower, and not away from it, once I saw the Eifel Tower and went in that direction, I was in front of Notre-Dame within minutes! Wow it was pretty cool. I totally believe that if I was a Catholic in Paris I’d go here, or at least do midnight mass on Christmas night here. It was so beautiful. I was confused at first cause I thought my book said that it was free to get in, but I saw people standing in line with a sign
Painting painting..
I liked this painting, and I think he's doing an awesome job.. shh i wasn't supposed to take a picture! in front that said “Correct change please”. After investigating longer, I realized this was to climb to the top of Norte-Dame. I didn’t need all that, so I walked towards the front and went in. I really can’t say what I saw once I came in. The pictures will have to do the talking for me, cause I can’t do it justice. I will say that in the visitors book I wrote, “Buddha and Jesus are brothers and amazing teachers!”
From here I just walked around, shopped, came back to my room, slept for an hour, and then walked around some more before calling it night. I did attempted to take a shower, but there was more room for the sink then there was for me (shared public bathrooms at this place I’m staying at!) and the water was freezing cold. It’s already cold enough in France, and at times bitter cold, so I figured to skip it. I guess I’ll just have to go stinky in the world’s most romantic capital!
