le PanthéonFinished in 1790 this fantastic building has some of the best views of Paris.
Yesterday afternoon I decided that I was not going to stay any longer in the Hotel de Nesle. Sure it is in a fantastic spot however I expect more for value for money even in Paris. Having quickly looked on-line I reserved a room for three nights at the Hotel Austerlitz, still within the fifth arrondissement however a good 15 minutes walk from where I was. The hotel is adjacent to the Jardin des Plantes which was opened in the 1600's as a garden for medicinal plants.
In comparison to Hotel de Nesle this place is heaven. Free wireless internet access, showers in every room, satellite television and the most comfortable bed I have slept in since arriving in Europe (admittedly I have been in the Hotel de Nesle and on a blow-up mattress with Mick and Sal).
Today (Saturday ) I'm off to visit the Tour Eiffel. Sadly Viviana wont be coming to Paris as she has gone to Geneva with her mother who is having urgent eye surgery however I will be seeing her in Milan when I arrive there on Monday.
So a weekend in Paris - if I was to believe everyword of my

year 7 French teacher Miss Jones, the weekends are spent playing petanque, relaxing in cafes, walking the dog and enjoying long lunches so outside of visiting the Eiffel Tower I will go in search for a game of pentanque with the locals, I'm sure they would enjoy having some tourist who speaks a strange mix of French and Spanish join in with them. Failing that lets see if I can find a dog to walk!
