our first day in paris! the first thing we did was go food shopping which was great! we got fruit, salad, adn i got a lovey quishe for dinner. we went to see a market which was very fun to look around. there were a bunch of random items that people just seemed to be selling of. some of which seemed geniunely antiquey however much of it look just like junk. i got some fries and then we headed back to the apartment. when we got out of the subway it was raining adn we ran for cover in some red cross tents out side of the hotel invalides and then headed back to the apartment. from there tat wnet to a bookstore and i made a phone cal or two and then went to the jarden d'tuilleries. it was a lovely day and i sat and read and wrote in my journal and then tat met me and we walked around back to teh apartment adn to the stores near by to see if we could find some hot chocolate. no l uck we it was late enough we felt ok to go and eat dinner. we made a lovely salad and i had my onion quishe.
then we went out to see teh eifel tower as it was teh night before bastile day. there was a concert and lots of people hanging around. we stuck around for a bit adn then decided to go and some sleep.
Monday was a nice and restful day. we got up and had some breakfast and then at 9:30 headed down to see teh parade. there were masses of people and at first we had a very poor spot to see but we saw some horses parade down and a band on horse back too! then the president drove through, waving and looking professional. i found it very amsuing but also qtuie aamzing that he was allowed to be so exposed. after he drove through we moved around and found a good spot to then watch 2 hours of solders adn people associated with the army march by! some of the memorable ones were soldiers in capes, the motercyles, teh horses, and then teh huge tanks with missilles and other such extravegant weaponery. we were a bit worrid about waht would happen if the army was suddenly needed as it seemed the entire army was maruchign!! there was a very impressive air show too with lot sof planes flying by and three that spat out red white and blue streams. the last part were parachuters landing down.
we walked to an awesome museum that had incan, african and other amazing exhibts. it was really realyl fascinating but i got eraly really tired adn hungary adn felt rather sick because of it. tat and i coudlnt find each other for awhile but when we did we headed back to the apartment for lunch. after lunch we walked to notre dame and then the place de bastille for some sight seeing. i fell asleep in notre dame but it was very peaceful! i also bought a lovely green bangle. another bracelet to add to my collectiong...
upon our return to the apartment i went and got food for my dinner adn then came back and napped with tat. when we woke up we had dinner and then headed to watch teh fireworks! we met a girl int eh field and chatted to her while we waited. the fireworks were in time to music and were AMAZING. it was a lovely experience. when they were done we wandered over to behind the louvre and found a fire station party!! we thought they weren't gonig to let us in but then they did! there were lots of firefighters and also it seemed qutie a few older people too. there was a live band and a disco room. both were very fun and lots of the firefighters were pretty drunk. we danced adn i peple watched adnt hen at 3 we started to awlk home and got to bed by 4. it was an amazing experiance, quite unlike any other...pictures will come soon!!
today, tuesday, we're off to sacre coeur and the cementary de montmartre...and then we're goign to have dinner with the Louerat family!!
