As soon as we woke up, we went to ask at reception how to get into the centre of Paris, the receptionist looked a bit concerned, mentioned they were building a Metro, but at the moment, we'd have to get a bus into Gennevilliers then a train. The bus stop was directly opposite the hotel, but from looking at the timetable, was designed for workers at the dock and had a service arriving early in the morning and leaving after 6 at night. feeling a bit down hearted, we decided to try and walk into the town centre instead, following the vague instructions the taxi driver had given us the night before. Breakfast was at McDonalds, 5 minutes down the road and from there we were given more detailed directions for getting to the train station. Once we knew the way there was no problem, but it did mean a 20 minute walk to the station and back again.
We were very impressed at how easy the trains were to work out and came every 10 or so minutes. The station even played music whilst you waited, which we both thought was a nice touch. :-)
Once we were
in town, we headed towards the Eiffel tower. I'd been past it before, but never actually up into the tower itself. The queues for the lifts were very long, so feeling energetic, we decided to take the stairs. We only went as far as the second floor, but it was windy enough up there!
We were then planning to go to notre dame, but for some reason the train wasn't running all the way. So instead, we retired back to the hotel for tea and to work out how for we'd walked to earn our blisters!
