... read more

It's a short blog entry today. The pictures do the talking. We ventured out into a fine but very cold Paris day to head towards Marne la Vallee and the Disneyland Park. It took about 45 minutes to get there and, apart from the chilly wind, we had a fantastic day at the park on rides, watching parades and meeting Mickey Mouse. The only excitement, or adventure, came on our last ride for the day. We were 3 quarters of the way through the Thunder Mountain Railroad, with Emily screaming and in tears, when it came to a very sudden and abrupt stop. About 30 minutes later we were walking under the ride to get out, following a park attendant who kept reminding us that photos and video were not allowed... As the mademoiselle who came ... read more

Note: All events in this entry occurred between January 2-4, 2007. For more updated entries and trips, please refer back to this blog at a later date. More updated entries and trips will NOT have a note like this. Thank you! January 2, 2007, around 9 AM GMT- I get ready to leave my hostel in order to head to the train station and head to my next destination, Paris. I wanted to go back because all and all I had had only 3 days to actually visit Paris as a tourist, and I realized that there was still much of the city I had not seen and/or fully visited. For example, I had only seen the exterior facade of the Louvre with my Parisian friend (for more info please refer to blog entry with the ... read more

Well we were up bright and early to get on the Metro and head for Disneyland Paris. The kids were excited, but tired - the idea had been to give the trip a big finale, but looking back on our day, I'm wondering how they actually managed it after such a jam-packed week! Hugo slept half the way THERE on the train! A few days ago we were lucky enough to strike a really lovely man on a trip to the tourist information centre off Avenue del'Opera. We asked a couple of questions, and were glad we did, as we found out that he could organise our tickets from the office, and then he also told us he could do the train tickets as well. It saved us ages in queues at Disney and in working ... read more

Disneyland. S We got to Disneyland after coming from Champagne. My favourite rides were Dumbo the flying elephant. It was a kids one but I still liked it because you got to control wether it goes up or down. My next favourite was Autopia which was a car driving one where you drive around the course and little kids and babies get to drive as long as there is an adult in the car  the first time we did it i got stuck behind this little baby and they were going so slow,  and we did it twice  My next favourite one was Indiana Jones  it was a roller coaster. It was fast and you did a whole loop and you went upside down. It was cool. And my last favourite one was Crushs Coaster. It ... read more

Disneyland was truly magical. It was much better than I’d anticipated. The detail and artistry that went into every building, set display, and scenes on every ride was incredibly amazing. For me the best rides were those in the Fantasyland area which was classic Disney fairytales. They weren’t the high thrill rides (which I do enjoy but can get at any theme park), but more fun little rides through amazing sets, with little surprises, twists and turns. My favourite was probably the Peter Pan one where you were flying over cities and through incredibly detailed scenes of the story. I also really enjoyed It’s a Small World for it’s kitsch pastel displays and old fashioned animation. Again the detail was incredible. We did these two times each and saw so many different things each time. The ... read more

We got to Disneyland late in the afternoon coming back through Paris by train. After we checked in we got changed and went to Disneyland for the last few hours before it shut. To get to Disneyland we walked through 'The Village' which is a little street that had some restaurants and Disney shops along it. When we entered Disneyland there was a street going up the middle called Main Street which had mostly shops along it. At the end was the Sleeping Beauty castle which was sort of in the middle of Disneyland. Behind the castle was Fantasyland which had a lot of rides in it but were mostly for little kids but there were still some okay rides there. There was one ride called 'It's a Small World' which was a little boat ride ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097 So Paris has been very good to us. =) Yesterday we set off to go to Versailles (a giant pretty chateau palace) but it turns out they are closed Mondays. Oddly enough ALOT of things are closed on Mondays. Thankfully we discovered this on the way to Versailles and not after having gotten there and wasted all the money. lol. Anyway, so we changed plans and decided to visit the Louvre (home of Mona Lisa). This was by far the most ginormous museum I have EVER been in. We spent most of the day wandering around getting lost and only saw most of one floor and part of a second, and there are FOUR floors. We visited Lisa right off since I had heard horror stories about the mob scene getting to her. ... read more

EUORSTAR Euorstar was so quick and easy easier than getting to an airport. We all enjoyed draging our bags down and up the stairs of the tube, there was works on the tube so we had to take two line to get to ST Pancras. Oh my god our arms were killing us. THe Euorstar only took 2hr and 15mins to get to Paris. Got there found the station to get our train to eurodisney how to get a ticket is another thing. Looking over peoples shoulders at ticket machines works in the end. We were lucky the trains were running the strike has been bad in FRnace and they had not been runing other days. But we got to EURODISNEY tied but we got there. Straight to the pool and for a sit down at ... read more

.... And Beyond!! With Tuesday being Bastille Day, the French national holiday, I decided to beat the crowds and head to Euro Disneyland on the Monday instead. Like Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea, the European version is split into two parks, Euro Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios Park. The similarities don't stop there either... Disneyland is split up into "lands" with nearly the same headings and even the rides are almost identical (and of course they both have the trademark Disneyland Castle). Frontierland, home to the wild west, covers Big Thunder Mountain as well as attractions from Pocahontas, The Mark Twain Paddle Boat and Woody's Roundup. It also has an old mansion house set up as a spooky ride called Phantom Manor. Adventureland captures everything from Indiana Jones, La Cabane Des Robinson (Robinson... read more
