Bonsoirrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope everyone is FANTASTIC!!!! The lack of sleep and intense Oral Practice and screeming kids in the background have left me a little slap happy! I'm so exhaused I don't know what to do with myself haha! It's only 7:30! MAA!! Yesterday was absolutely beautiful. We had to be up at the crack of dawn dressed in layers to keep warm. We left around 7:30am to head to this little village. I can't remember it's significance though because I failed to pay attention due to the beautiful scenery!!! Sorry!!! Anyways, it was about -2 degrees. (not really...but still) I took some great pictures of the water and the village itself was so cute and quaint. I love places like that. The entire time we were there I just kept wishing we had something like ... read more

Bonjour a tous!!! I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far! I miss everyone so much. I'm enjoying a lovely Saturday of nothing. It's nice after the crazy week I just had! These past couple days have been great but very difficult as well. We have a very active pair of professors working with us who challenge us everyday. Since the 16 of us have different levels of speaking, we were divided in two groups to work more in depth. There is a group of 7 and a group of 9. I am in the group of 7...but I must say there are time I wish i was in the other group!!!!! The other group gets to talk about apartments, people, and build their vocabulary. Our group had to have a mock trial about ... read more

This deserves it's own blog... When I saw the serving platter with our lunch I thought it was Olive Tapenade. Wrong. It was Blood Saussage. Yes, you read correct.....Blood Saussage. Holy Crap. I made it through without gagging because I kept imagining it was black ground chicken. Ps. There is another girl i'm sharing the basement with now who will be staying in the room next to me. She's really nice! ... read more

Bonsoir à tous! These past few days have been very exciting and busy! I am so glad I'm living with a family who has young children because I can go to bed as early as them! It's 9pm and we just finished dinner....I'm ready for bed! Yesterday was our first day at the CLA. We spent the morning going over our itinerary for the three weeks we are here, went on a beautiful walking tour of Besancon, and returned to the CLA for our first Oral Practice. While we were on our tour, we stopped at a popular university cafe for lunch. It was interesting to say the least. I had tomatoes, a tomato salad, mousse au chocolat ( which was really like chocolate jello...sad ), fries, carrots and rabbit. Now last time I was in ... read more

Ok, so, Ollie wasn't fixed for a couple of days so Neil and Lesley kindly let us stay for 2 nights - Thank you!! Then we were finally off!! Dropped the hire car back and headed down towards Bern in Switzerland with a possible stop in Langres, France.....or so we thought!!!!!! We were doing great and made it passed Langres, however, a couple of times we needed to stop for breaks and each time, me and Adam had to push the van to bump start it...not ideal!! Anyway, we got down to a place called Besancon (quite close to Swiss border) and there was a problem. A tunnel that the lovely Tom Tom wanted us to go through was blocked off for repairs - the alternative route was up a narrow windy road over a steep ... read more

Today was a Travel day for me. I listed as being in Belfort in the Franche-Comte region, however most of the day I was on a train in 3 different countries. I started the day bright and early when I woke up at 5:30 am and left Joscha's house for the train station. Saying goodbye was really difficult for me. Joscha and I cried for about 45 minutes each remembering all the good times we had over the past 4 days..... NOT We're MEN! Men don't cry. In all seriousness, I was sad to be leaving Joscha, but I was happy to start the next day on my Journey on my way to France! I took a train at about 6:30 and didn't get off again until 1:45. During that time I slept, ate some snacks ... read more

I have not a single photo from Belfort. Not one. This may be because overall it was not a very positive time. I felt good about our dance work, about the process and the place that the work got to. The technical support in Belfort was really wonderful—we were able to work with lights and sound and everything there in a way that really made the piece finally make sense for me. But the energy of the place and some stresses surrounding the project repressed my photo-taking, I think. (don't worry--it was not nearly that bad--but I do think that stress was a reason I did not take any pics. And the fact that the weather was gloomy much of our time there). Belfortis an industrial town with a long history of mills, mines, and ... read more

Alright, so I thought that a few of you might find these cultural differences amusing (and I mean you, Sara) and I thought I should post another blog before I head off to Paris and Madrid tomorrow (yippeee!). Mind you, these are generalizations from my point of view only... strictly opinion. I'm not trying to stereotype, just summarizing what seems to be the obvious for me. - French tabloids are full of American celebrities... and Sarkozy - Stoplights here confuse me; the bus has it's own and walk signals never seem to go. - Pubs are full at 5:30pm and dance clubs are empty until Midnight. - Dogs have the right to poop anywhere and everywhere. And they do. - A glass of wine is cheaper than a bottle of coke. And 2 euro bottles of ... read more
