Au Pizzeria
That's Fe in the middle. On the right is Gilbert, on the left Thierry.
Yesterday Fe (the guitar playing british assistant) got a message from Gilbert (a Corsican guy we met at a pizza place several weeks ago where we hung out til 2am playing guitar and singing) inviting her to come back to the pizza place to play. Well, Fe and I decided that we didn't want to show up unprepared again, so after going to a movie in the afternoon, she came back to my place and we looked up tabs and lyrics and worked on our set list.
There are the songs we prepared...
- Hotel California (because they played it last time and no one could remember all the lyrics)
- Careless Love, Madeleine Peyroux
- Don't Wait, Madeleine Peyroux
- Bang, Bang, Nancy Sinatra
We only had 2 hours, so that was the best we could do.
So we show up and Fe starts playing right away with Gilbert and the other guitarists. At some point early on we busted out with Don't Wait and it was actually pretty good! Can you imagine me in a hole-in-the-wall Coriscan pizzeria singing in front of about 15 people?? It was priceless! I also sang along with other random songs the Corsicans

Tous ensemble!
You can see how small the place is in this pic. I don't have any pics from earlier in the night when we were really all packed in. The interesting thing about this pizzeria is that you don't have a choice of toppings...they all come with everything (ham, mushrooms, onions, cheese and olives).
came up with.
Here's a list of most of the songs they played during the 4 hrs we were there (not including corsican and french songs).
1. The water is Wide (this killed me, bc I actually know this song, but the only words I could remember were "I can't cross o're. ... my love and I" now I know all the lyrics, so I'll be ready next time!)
2. Let It Be
3. Mr Tamborine Man
4. Big Wheels Keep on Turning/Rolling (?)
5. Honky Tonk Woman
6. House of the Rising Sun
7. It ain't me, babe (you've probably noticed that they're huge Bob Dylan fans here)
8. Blowing In the Wind
9. She'll be coming round the mountain (this was very random, sort of a joke, i think)
I sang most of my songs. Bang Bang was a huge hit.
We exchanged numbers with this older couple who were really cool...the guy played the guitar and the wife sang a little (she knew more english lyrics than me...but excuuuse me for not really knowing bob dylan). Apparently they often have parties at their home and people sit around playing and singing à la camp

Rocking out
Fe and Gilbert playing a traditional Corsican song.
winni! How sweet is that?! I hope they invite us soon...but first Fe and I need to improve our repertoire.
Its the random impromptu gatherings like this one that really make life here cool and always entertaining.

Well, we did some rocking out on Matt's Guitar Hero World Tour. And we got to listen to Carrie and Travis's Christmas CD many times.
