What a great decision to move further south. Would have been a shame to have returned home without finding summer and we certainly found it. Glorious wall to wall sunshine for 2 days. First day was, have to admit, a couple of degrees in excess of comfortable. We scootered to the next, all static site along the lake at Gastes and caught up with our old friends. Their thermometer was showing just short of 100 and it was indeed hot. So hot in fact that when we got back to the campsite and went to the pool we sat entirely in the shade after our swim. Lovely place to be. The bar plays some very pleasant but not invasive music and the temperature out of the sun was perfect. Rest of the day was spent outside ... read more

We hadn't really planned to go any further south given we only have 2.5 weeks but needs must when the North of France is cold and wet. Rained all night and still at it in the morning. Enough is enough, a summer is needed. Off we go south. Headed for Bordeaux but first of all using quieter roads though at first we found ourselves on dual carriageways which I prefer to avoid as they send me to sleep and I can't snap snap with my camera to keep me awake. Fortunately near Pons, Bob pulled off to find a garage as we needed fuel and we somehow lost our way a little and Tomtom was also a bit confused. We drove through Pons, which fortunately was just big enough for us and Tandy, a rather attractive ... read more

Our next stop for the night for Suzy, Sion and the rest of us was going to be the Dune du Pyla otherwise known as the Pilat Dune. Our Tour had done this tour a while ago and mentioned how busy the sand dune was so we had decided to attack it on the way home rather on than on the way out on holiday. We drove along the coast road which was busy. There were about four different campsites we could have chosen along the way each with their own access to the dune. We chose Panorama campsite another ACSI site at 14 euros a night. It seemed busy despite being the end of the season. The plots were set irregularly in the pine trees and the Germans had taken all the good ones facing ... read more

Ok, so today i have been in France for 2 weeks. I have met 2 english people here - a couple from southend and there is also a fairly odd elderly dutch man with whom i attempt to converse in english. He is mostly understandable and it is his unfortunate propensity to whistle through his teeth when talking rather than his accent which makes our conversations awkward. Firstly i would like to reassure everyone who has been uninvited to my private blogs was that you have not offended me in any way - i simply have no intention of writing a private blog, if i'm that traumatised about something that i need to tell specific people i'm probably not gonna care about that fact that it'll cost me money to call. You can still access everything ... read more

Ok so i feel i should clarify a few things after 9 days in France. Firstly although the location of each blog (see above) keeps changing, rest assured i am in the same place. I just keep discovering more precisely where i am. Will try and put up some pictures soon. Well i have to take some first but can probably manage that. It just never seems the right time for a camera. Don't worry though guys - now that the ice is broken with the frenchies ill get snapping. What do i have to add? Oh ok. Here we go. 1) Lovers of Marmite, bring it with you - it doesn't exist here, well not that i could find in the Carrefour (supermarket). Not that that means very much, as it's layout left much to ... read more
