So sorry for such a delay in the writing situation but I am facing a low batery and a long story about the crappy guy at Best Buy selling me the wrong adapter.
Enough about that and on to the goods.
Friday:
We spent our morning walking around the Louvre, and if you ever go to Paris you must buy your tickets the night before and get to the Louvre as soon as it opens. By noon that place is packed and almost impossible to enjoy. Anyway, it was amazing and definitely worth the $12. We got to see the Venus de Milo, the Mona Lisa (and yes her eyes do follow you), and tons of stuff that was so freakin old it was amazing. I never knew just how large the Louvre is until we got there. You could never see it all in one vacation and you probably wouldn't want to even if you could. There is a lot of stuff.
After that we had lunch at a fantastic little cafe behind the museum. Cafe's are definitely the way to go because the food is much cheaper and it is terrific. However you do find that water and tea and coke are the same price as a couple of glasses of wine, so we suggest sticking to that.
We then mosied on over to Notre Dame, which is absolutely magnificent. It's so beautiful and completely free to walk through, so it was a nice break on the pocket book. You cannot even begin to imagine what it's like to be walking through such a beautifully famous cathedral, until you have actually done it. The line wasn't terribly long and we really enjoyed spending some time in the parks around the cathedral once we were done.
Friday night we did our night bike tour through Paris. It was definitely a fun event but to tell you the truth, I would rather have just done one of the boat tours with a bottle of wine. That was the highlight of the entire tour. The tour was a great time and it took you all over the city so it was a fun adventure. And, I finally found some red wine that I like. In fact most people in Paris drink red wine because it's warm and you can take it everywhere you go. I have had around 3 to4 different reds since I have been here and I have not found a single one I didn't like. I might have to start searching for French reds back home.
After the bike tour we were hungry once again so we headed to a little cafe down the street from our hotel and had the French version of a grilled cheese sandwich (croque monsieur). It's 2 slices of bread with meat in the middle, toasted and then covered with some fantastic melted cheese. It was great.
By the end of the day we were exhausted and headed back home to crash in our bed. Needless to say, it took us no time at all to fall asleep.
