Finland was a province and then a grand duchy under Sweden from the 12th to the 19th centuries and an autonomous grand duchy of Russia after 1809. It won its complete independence in 1917. During World War II, it was able to successfully defend its freedom and resist invasions by the Soviet Union - albeit with some loss of territory. In the subsequent half century, the Finns made a remarkable transformation from a farm/forest economy to a diversified modern industrial economy; per capita income is now on par with Western Europe. As a member of the European Union, Finland was the only Nordic state to join the euro system at its initiation in January 1999. To be updated

Diesmal war unser Ziel der 50.000 Hektar große Nationalpark „Schärenmeer“. Dieser besteht aus 46.800 Hektar Wasserfläche und 3.200 Hektar Landfläche, die von Tausenden von Inseln und Schären gebildet werden. Für alle Nationalparks gelten strenge Regeln für das Anlegen von Booten, das Übernachten und die Nutzung von offenen Feuern. Hey guys, Thanks for all the updates from home - keep them coming. Well since I last wrote (sorry been in the wilderness with very little internet access - or anything else for that matter) We headed across Norway and back into Sweden leaving the snow capped mountains for one last time. Spen a few days just driving across\up sweden. Mile up on Mile of empty pine and birch lined roads, so much forest. Auf der Homepage "Deutsche in Finnland" fand ich die folgenden Informationen. 29.03.2009 „Das Verkehrsministerium plant laut einem Bericht der Zeitung Aamulehti höhere Strafen für das Telefonieren am Steuer sowie das Fahren ohne Sicherheitsgurt. Personen, die drei Vergehen in einem Jahr oder vier in zwei Jahren begehen, soll künftig der Führerschein entzogen werden.“ Quelle: Aamulehti Anmerkung. Lähden muutaman päivän kuluttua Tansaniaan kolmeksi kuukaudeksi suorittamaan syventävien opintojen harjoittelua. En lähde yksin, vaan menen toisen opiskelijan kanssa, joka tekee Mwanzassa nuorisotyön harjoittelua. Matkareitti kulkee reittiä Helsinki-Lontoo-Doha (Qatar)-Dar Es Salaam-Mwanza ja lähes samaa reittiä kuljen takaspäin tultaessa. Viimeisen viikon lomailen tosin yksin jossainpäin Tansaniaa ja vietän sen jälkeen vielä viikon Lontoossa. Harjoittelen kahdessa eri järjestössä Kivulinissä ja Green Hopessa. Täällä sitä nyt sitten ollaan, lentokentän kuppilassa irlantilainen siideri kourassa ja miniläppäri nokan edessä. Kunnialla selvittiin check-in:n ja turvatarkastuksen läpi, vaikka maailmanloppu häämötti jo silmissä aikaisemmin iltapäivällä turvatarkastajien ulosmarssin johdosta. Onneksi meillä on myöhänen lento kyseessä, ja pahin helvetti eli ruuhka loppui jo tossa seittemän pintaan. Finnairin työntekijä tossa chek-in tiskillä sanoikin, ettei ikinä ole aiemmin nähnyt vastaavaa kaaosta kentällä.
