Raekoja PlatsThis is one of Cassie's pictures. I haven't had a chance to upload mine just yet.
So let's see. . . I still don't have any courses. I went and spoke with the woman in charge of the ISEP students to see if she could help me at all. She's a sweet woman, but not very much help at all. She told me that I would have to go to my faculty's dean's office. Ugh. It looks like I'll be heading there tomorrow after I get my picture taken in town (which I need for my UT card that I have to also get in the dean's office). One plus with Bellarmine is that they know how to get people settled away. These people are more for the "fend for yourself" philosophy, or maybe it's just a not-so-subtle way of making us independent.
Every day I am meeting someone new as well as getting to know a few that I have already met. Oh! Speaking of. . . I don't think I ever mentioned that we got two more roommates. One is Alya (Belarus) and the other is Justina (hoo-stina, Poland). Both are very nice, but Justina is great. She's one of those people that just doesn't care about the stupid things, but cares very much for the people she surrounds herself with. And I have to admit I'm impressed with her English. She's drawing on what she remembers from high school! I don't think that's possible for me to do with my Spanish - no offense, Mr. P.
Anya, Cassie, and I are talking about taking a trip of our own while we are here. Evidently, plane tickets are really cheap out of Riga, Latvia, especially to the UK. How great is that?! We're thinking of heading up there around the end of November, probably the weekend after Thanksgiving. Both Cassie and Anya have people from their schools up in that area, so we should be pretty well taken care of. Aubrey, too bad you're not there now, how great would it have been if I could have visited you? (Just a thought.) There are other trips I am supposed to take while I am here as well. There is one to Tallinn to see how the government is set up, which is actually really cool since most of it is done through the internet. The professors are also trying to get the President to meet with the students that go on that trip (Have I mentioned this before?). I think that's pretty amazing that they have the connections to possibly pull that off. Given, it's a small country and it's like meeting a governor at home, but I'm sure even the Estonian President is a busy man. There is also a trip planned for St. Petersburg, I think in October. I'm not taking Russian anymore (it was at the same time as a class that would be better to take), so I'm not sure how easy it would be to go along on this trip, but I'm sure I'll find a way. I have to get pictures of the Hermitage for you Chick, right?
That's really it for now. Wait! Cassie's computer got fixed today, so hopefully I'll be able to write in here more often as well as possibly use AIM and Skype. Love and miss you all!!
