Working your butt off during the year as a teacher pays off when you:

b. figure out a way to escape the Texas heat for the summer

In SaaremaaKuressaare Episcopal Castle on the island of Saaremma. You have to take a ferry to get the island...mostly, there are just a lot of trees there. :)
In Saaremaa, at our cabin-siteWe stayed in these very cute little cabins. Of course, there was a sauna...and surprisingly, a delicious, home-cooked breakfast in the morning.
Lots of windmillsSaaremaa is known for its windmills, and we stopped here to check some of them out.
In the treesI don't remember the name of the forest we went to...but the trees were tall and amazing...they literally swayed in the wind. It felt like something out of "The House of Flying Daggers".
In PolvaWe went to visit Allar's grandparents, who just celebrated their 50th wedding anniverary. Thet were amazing hosts.
Me and Allar (our driver/host) in TartuI know he looks like he doesn't want to be there...but I wanted to get a picture with me and him in front of the statue of kissing college students. Unfortunately, the photographer didn't get the statue in!
Tartu UniveristyTartu is the "Austin" of Estonia...its only college town.

I'm sorry that all you found on Saaremaa were trees - the island has so much to offer but it takes a little digging and preparation. Maybe you'll come back someday and I can show you some of the other good things about our island
