2 months
I’ve officially been here for 8 weeks. And it’s still as crazy as it has been. Danish is getting better, but I still can’t understand a normal conversation. Nothing too exciting has happened since the last time you heard from me. I hurt my shoulder due to public transportation and a hockey bag, which isn’t even a cool reason; I have to call the doctors today to see what the results of my x-rays are, so I guess we will see. Which brings me to the point, of I’m not playing hockey anymore this year because my schedule is way way too busy for it. I’m busy all the time and it never ends. So since the first week of September, I have played one hockey game, which we tied 3-3. I’ve traveled to Galten with my friend Michelle to go to a 2 x 20 years birthday party at a club and it was amazing. I skipped my district rotary meeting for a birthday party which I’m happy I went to because I met a lot of people and became better friends with the one I already knew, plus meeting new people at my school from my
host sisters’ class when she held a class party at our house. I went to a rotary meeting where I met the outbound from last year, she went to Brazil. I could really tell you much about her experience because the presentation was in Danish, but she’s very nice and welcoming. I also met my 3rd host mom, though she doesn’t speak English, at all, so it was a very brief conversation, but she was very sweet. Today I start Sprogskole, or language school, which I’m really excited about because I REALLY need to learn Danish, and it is just so so hard. This weekend I’m going to Odense to see a fellow exchangie. His name is Devin and he’s from Canada, I’m so excited, I need some fellow exchange company. My friend Rebekka says “hej” she wants me to say: AUIÆÅ!, since I sit in school and write these. Next Friday my class will go to the states, but I can’t join them, so instead I find myself Ireland bound! For 2 and a half years I’ve been trying to get to Ireland, and now I FINALLY am going. So October 2nd through the 11th that’s where I will
be, and don’t worry, I’ll take plenty of pictures. So I don’t really have much to say, but life is still good. I’m in love with Denmark and the people here, and as of now, I never want to come home. Much love to everyone back home, I miss you, but I will be home before we all know it. Its already been 2 months, and it has flown by!
Continuation…..
Well I wrote the actual blog itself, I just never posted it. Its now 2 weeks later and enough has happened for me to write another one, so here goes. I went to Ireland on the 4th instead of the 2nd because I messed up majorly. I was about to get ready to leave, already packed and all, and then I realized I didn’t print my boarding pass! That wouldn’t have been a problem except my train left in 45 minutes and my computer wasn’t hooked up to the printer. So I went to the library, and now I was frantic and in a rush, because I knew I didn’t have time for this, the librarian didn’t understand what I was trying to tell her and made me
by a flash drive to print because, I don’t even know why, then I tried to buy it but they wouldn’t take my card, so I had to go to the bank get cash then back to the library, once I checked in and printed it was already too late, I missed my train, basically I was screwed, and I wasted 70 DKK (15$) on a flash drive I didn’t even need. So I got home my host sister helped me get a taxi and new travel plans and I made it to the airport only to realize once I got there that I left my passport at home. By that time I was just completely done with the day, I called my dad, called my friend in Ireland and let them know I wasn’t coming, but my dad told me I was going Sunday now, he got me a new ticket, so in the end it all worked out. Thank god for that. Once I got to Ireland I was so so so busy, the first day I was just showed around and I went to starbucks! I was so excited about it after being deprived from decent coffee
for so long. The next day Megan’s mom, Martha, and I drove into Dublin and saw Kilmainham Jail, and it was so so cool. There was movies and stuff filmed there, I just cant remember the names. Then we had lunch and went back to Maynooth to get Megs from school. The Next day Martha, Megan’s brother Brendan, and I went to Newgrange and Trim Castle. Newgrange is this really cool historical tomb that was built buy the Neolithic’s thousands of years ago. It is so cool, and the inside of the tomb, is perfectly preserved. It was very cool. Trim castle is the castle they used to film Brave Heart, or scenes, and it is one of the only castles that hasn’t been completely restored and remains in its ruin state, though you can walk through it and clearly see the rooms. Thursday, Martha, Brendan and I drove to Kork, to see Blarney Castle, I kissed the Blarney stone which hangs over and edge and you have to lean out over to kiss it, and its like the luckiest thing in Ireland you can do, so now I really have the luck of the Irish. Friday Megan “skipped” school
and went with me on a Ireland bus tour. It was actually really cool. We went to rambatty castle which is pretty cool because it is completely re done so you can walk through the whole thing and its decorated as it would have been hundreds of years ago and there is still a lot of original things left. Then we went to the Cliffs of Mohr, and they are absolutely breathtaking. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Then we took a long scenic route back to the station and went home. Saturday Megan had morning classes in Dublin, so Martha and went site seeing, we saw The Church Of Christ, which was GORGEOUS, went to Trinity collage and saw this amazing library that’s so old, and saw the book of kells which is like amazing and so so so detailed for such little pictures. After that we took a bus around Dublin to see all the cool old buildings and architecture, then I met up with Megan and we walked around Dublin and I met some of her friends, then we got a bus home got ready and went out for the night where I finally met all
these people I’ve been talking to for years in Ireland and it was pretty cool, I think we got along well, except I DID get pushed into a thorn bush and now have a battle wound because of it. Sunday I came home and then on Thursday my Dad came to Denmark to say hello, I showed him my little town, the bigger town next to it, we went into Århus for a while, and then Went to my families Summer house for the rest of the weekend, then Monday we said our goodbyes. It was really awesome to have him here and let him see my new world, but when he left I was completely content with staying. Everyone was so worried I’d want to go home with him, but all I want right now is to be HERE and that’s all. I’m so excited I’m meeting new people and making friends, and I really really like it here, Everyday just gets better and better. Tomorrow I leave to Holbæk, for a weekend retreat with the country exchanges, so that will be really nice, I’m pretty excited to see all my friends, and were having a little Halloween party,
so it should be fun. Well until next time, ill try to be better about these.
Love <3
