The Little Mermaid
Or rather, the screen that doesn't work that's supposed to let us see her in China Good try... Might try seeing her on the internet ;-) Oh no, oh no we came half way 'round the world to see "The Little Mermaid" and turns out that with a flip of her tail she left for China! From May to October she will be at the World EXPO in China. The clever Danes however, want to be sure that we get to see her in China so they put up a "live" screen over the place in the harbor where she would normally sit and you can view her live in China
IF it was working of course, but it seems it rarely works so... no sighting of the Little Mermaid. ;-) But we have sighted one of Hans Christain Anderson's 27 homes that he lived in, here in Copenhagen, and ate a $25 hamburger and fries , true enough, and ...took a wonderful canal boat cruise through this beautiful city. The biggest difference here from all the other countries that we have visited is that it is FLAT! Yea! No climbing of stairs, no hills, we're stoked ;-) There are however, hundreds and hundreds of bicylcles (of course since it's FLAT ;-) We could even do it. Our stay is short here, only 2 days, but Canal on Copenhagen
Where our canal tour started...just off Kongens Nytorv Square. it will be enough to see the older parts of Copenhagen and the shopping streets ;-) We visited the Rosenborg Castle with it's beautiful gardens and the crown jewels of Denmark. Currently the King and Queen of Denmark live at Amalienborg Palace. And... docked right in front of the Place on the canal was the superyacht Octopus
So... according to the internet...Octopus is currently the world's ninth largest superyacht, owned by Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft, to whom she was delivered in 2003. Octopus is the third largest superyacht that is not owned by a head of state, measuring 414 feet (126 m).
Octopus sports two helicopters on the top deck (one in front and one on the back), and a 63-foot (19 m) tender docked in the transom (one of seven aboard). The yacht also has a pool on board, located aft on one of her upper decks, and two submarines: one operated by remote control for studying the bottom of the ocean. Side hatches at the water line form a dock for jet skis.
We recoginzed her immediately as we has seen her last year in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida! Is this a small world Rosenborg Castle and Gardens
Built in 1606 by Christain IV as a summerhouse. story? :-) BTW, after nearly a month of being apart, we've hooked up with Sharon and Dave again!!! Yea!!!
