HomeThis is where I've been staying for the past two weeks. My balcony during the first week is the lower one, closest to the front on the right side. Now its on the backside of the building.
The weather this weekend was fantastic - I think the highs were in the low to mid 70s. Friday I was going to meet Lars (an ex-UW grad student, now DTU post-doc) and some of his friends at Tivoli, which is this large park/garden/amusement park in downtown Copenhagen. They were going to see a Danish folk singer there. I made it downtown at like 9:30 or so, and the line to get in was outrageously long. I still don't have a cell phone either, so I figured there was no chance I would find them if I did make it in. So, I just wandered around downtown for a bit since I had not been around there at all yet. I stopped at a pub and sat on the patio for a beer and then went home. I'll definitely make it to Tivoli some other day...
Saturday I went to Malmo, Sweden, but I think I'll comment on that and post some pics in a separate blog. Although, when I got back to the Copenhagen train station and went to the bathrooms there, I saw something I found quite odd. At the entrance to the women's restroom was a booth

with a lady selling women's panties. Naturally, I took a photo and its posted. Weird.
Sunday I walked to a small produce market nearby and picked up some stuff to cook up breakfast. The guy at the market asked where I was from - I responded and asked him where he was from. He said Iraq, but I couldn't understand him...to my "what?" he replied "Saddam Hussein!" He was really nice and I thought that was kinda funny. I packed up my things while I made breakfast. I'm moving to the DTU containers tomorrow - where I'll stay for the rest of the trip. In the afternoon I went to a beach that's about 10 min. away by train and met Lars and his friends there. We mostly just lounged around (well, they played frisbee while I lounged) drank a couple bottles of wine and enjoyed the sunshine. No one remembered to brink a corkscrew so the guys opted for pushing the corks into the bottles. It seemed like a real task. Apparently this beach is like 15 min by bike from the new place I'm moving to. I'm going to try and get a bike on Tuesday -
Svane PubThe pub I went to my first night here. This photo is from the balcony of my first room - I didn't venture far.
it seems to be a necessity here. Tonight just packing and laundry. I'm meeting the other US student tomorrow at like 9 am...much too earlier than I'd like.
