Well where do we begin? The megabus down to Glasgow was great, well it was from Dundee onwards, a Italian girl got on with a tv and we got upto min updates on the Final. Some more Italians got on at Perth, so it ended up a little celebration. Got to Glasgow and the bus driver was a little scary to say the least, but George Square was something to be seen - it was like we had been transported to Italy with them all over the place and out of cars etc. Then there was the Airport longest 6 hours of my life, Cathy managed to get some sleep, although she did say i did wake her up with the ten mins of sleep i did get by snoring (Me snore, never). Very clean airport ... read more

today was our first full day in prague. it was exciting, fun, stressful later tonight and finally the stress was resolved about 10 minutes ago. we woke up at 7:30, got ready and then went downstairs for breakfast. it's the only meal they provide us with, so we were all about taking advantage of that. but...we got downstairs and the line was ridiculously long and moving slowly. plus, we had to meet one of the czech students at 8:30. so we decided to venture out and locate someplace to grab some juice and breakfast. we found a cute little convenience type store- so i got "cappy" brand juice (it's by coca cola, and the brand looks like minute maid) and a bagel looking pastry to eat. after breakfast, we all met up with cyril (i'm probably ... read more

I had never considered how the large stones used in constructing castles and churches were lifted. Today we discovered how this was accomplished. During the winter we saw the crane under construction, but not the finished model. The crane will stay on display at the St. Vitus Cathedral for a period of time. Then it will be moved and used in a renovation project on a castle in the Czech Republic. I would love to see it in operation. ... read more

http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Czech-Republic/Prague/Prague/blog-141061.html のキャッシュです。 European Summer Czech Republic, we canoed 70km roughly from Vyssi Brod via Cesky Krumlov (2nd largest castle in Czechland) to Borsov. I think we spent more time on land having pitstops of Tuzemak, sadlo s chlebem, klobasy and more rum...The river was full, the sun was out , but the wind was cold. Good company and I think I improved my Czech...just a little. Cycling was good, a packed lunch, off road and on, through the tall tree forests and swimming in the lakes, riding through the corn fields and picking mushrooms along the way. South Bohemia is a top spot to cycle around, beautiful landscapes, so take your camera in your backpack. European Summer crew seaman and rum...and slivovic too ... read more

Hello everyone, Everyone said that Prague is beautiful and I agree. It didn't suffer a lot of damage during WWII. Except for an incredible amount of graffiti (worse than any other city that I have visited) they keep the buildings painted and in great shape. Czech Republic has been a democracy since 1989. It was a peaceful transition from communism, called The Velvet Revolution." Enjoy the pictures. Bye for now, Donna... read more

Hello all! I'm writing from my bedroom in the lovely dorm we are staying at in Prague! I'm sharing a room with my friend Katie, and then there are 2 other rooms that make up a suite. So there are 7 girls...with one bathroom...i.e. one shower. Should be interesting in the mornings... lol. On Friday night I flew to St. Louis. I stayed at Katie's house-- for some reason, I could NOT fall asleep until like 2:00. So then we had to wake up at 7:00 (which meant I had not gotten enough hours of sleep to make up for all of the hours I was going to be missing). We got to the airport at around 8:30 to ensure that Katie and I would be able to get tickets together (which we were able to). ... read more

After three flights, we're finally in the Czech Republic! I'll spare you the details...it was a lot of waiting...that was not fun. Today we have spent time getting to know the other people in the program, including the Czech students. We arrived in Prague (or Praha), went through customs, got luggage, met with the students and teachers we'd be working with, and got in vans to our dorms. Check in took a while at our dorms...apparently they had mixed up all the groups or something...I don't know. Anyway, our dorms are in this beautiful building. Right now the majority of people living here are American students on programs similar to ours. We are living in a three bedroom place, which also has a kitchenette. Pictures to come later...you know, after I take them. There are seven ... read more

That's right, I said it: "Czech it out". So I'm in Prague. Good times. We got here on the third and are leaving on the 9th at around noon. Prague is obviously very beautiful (for pictures czech (lol) out Jeff's travel blog: http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/SlavicNerd/). However, we've found that there isn't actually as much to do here as we thought there would be. Today we went to the bone church at Kutna Hora, which was pretty amazing. We've also seen Prague Castle, the St. Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square, the Museum of Communism, and we've just wandered around and soaked in the city. I must say though, that my heart lies in Poland. Thus far anyway. And I will be getting a Polish eagle tattooed on my back left shoulder-blade. (Mom, don't get mad over this. I won't be ... read more

yesterday was an early morning after a night from hell. first there was the drunk girl singing alanis morisette outside along with other drunks and their chatter...then was the tolling of some stupid bells...then was the 2:30 intrusion of more roommates who decided to make as much noise as possible and shine flashlights everywhere...last but not least was the freight train snoring that woke us up around 4:30...earplugs hardly helped... after having a breakfast of warm milk with corn flakes and tang, we showered and then headed back to bohemia bagel since kasia was still hungry. i wrote postcards and journaled. then it was off to albert's, the grocery store, since we had decided to be frugal. i bought dried fruit, nuts, some kind of cheese-bacon bread, and a bunch of chocolate. then it was off ... read more
