All,
Well, since the last update, I have been just hanging out here in the CK, just relaxing at the hostel and around town. On Tuesday, the weather took a turn for the Autumn worst as it was grey, rainy, cold, and cloudy. It was actually kind of relaxing as the only expectations for the day were to hang out at the Krumlov House and drink coffee all day.
After I had my fill of Czech Joe, I made my way back to the brewery, and this time sampled the Yeast Beer taht had been reccomended to me by several people in town. It was amazing, and I almost fell out of my chair when the bartender was scanning the satellite in between pours, and stumbled across the Blues-Stars preseason game. It turned out that it was just the menu for all shows on that night, not shows that were available to him. I hung out at the Eggenberg Brewery for a while, and then headed out on the town for a bit. I stopped at the Hostel 99, which is actually a big party hostel in town. I strolled in like I was staying there, and was able
to scam 45 minutes of free Internet time. After that, I grabbed a cheeseburger for the second night in a row at a street side vendor. Let me tell you a little something about these Czech cheeseburgers. They are literal cheeseburgers. There is no meat, there is just a "filet o fish" shaped cube of mozzarella cheese on a bun, with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, tarter and maybe ketchup, I forget all the details. But, as the old adium states, "you could deep fry a human finger and serve it with a dipping sauce, and people would eat it", needless to say, I enjoyed the feast, and at two bucks a pop, who could complain, well maybe a health nut, but nevermind.
Today, I actually did some of the main touristy things in town by going to the castle, and taking a scenic stroll along the river Vlatva. I also went back to the brewery to make sure that the Yeast beer was till up to yesterdays standards, and then went out to dinner at the Gypsy Bar for some goulash. it was pretty good, but not quite as good as it had been advertised to me. As with almost
all of my stops on this trek, I am kind of sad to leave CK, but I am itching for a new adventure as well. The Krumlov House has been an awesome home for four nights, and it came just at the right time on the trip.
On a side note, I have hammered out the rest of my agenda, and let me say it is comforting to know where I will be the rest of the way, or I should say most of the way. Tomorrow morning, I leave for Budapest, Hungary, where I will spend two nights. On Saturday, I will take a train back to Vienna in the afternoon to sight see, and then take an overnight train back to Florence. I will spend Sunday morning sight seeing at Pisa, where I will see the infamous tower, and then head to Cinque Terre. After two nights there, I will head to Munich for Oktoberfest. Logistics just didn't allow for me to make it to Scandinavia, and I regret it. But, there is always next time. I will update from Hungary.

Scotty - I'm guessing you've made it to Hungary by now. I've been out of town for work since Sunday and have gotten behind on your travels. Vienna and the Czech Republic sound like they have a lot to offer, if even for just a couple days. (Too bad you couldn't pick up that Blues/Stars game, but Kariya has been the true highlight of the preseason - contributing on every goal so far.) Those "cheeseburgers" you were scarfing down sound like an interesting treat. I'm glad the yeast beer was as good as advertised. Did you ever solve the mysterious influx of Asian tourists in CK? I would give the Hungarian style goulash a shot - it seems like the dish originated in Hungry, so who knows. I think it was a great idea to hit up the opera in Vienna, even just for Act I. How many chances will we get to see a true European opera, especially in Austria. Pisa should be a great stop and you'll get to spend a little more time in Florence. Scandinavia will just have be on your 2008 agenda. Keep taking pictures and filling us all in with the details.
