Rainy, rainy day in Prague.
When I left the hostel, I could see the rain clouds... but I figured I'd be ok without my umbrella... every day I bring it, and it hasn't rained all that much.
Sigh.
The rain gods caught up to me haha.
I managed to get to the Royal Gardens by the Castle, and then the rain started... at first, for about 10-15min a light drizzle. No big deal. I kept walking, taking my photos.
As I walked into the Castle itself - I wasn't fully paying attention as I fumbled around with my camera - and nearly got ran over by a group of guards haha. They were doing some kind of march and whatever tourists were in their way, so beat it, they were getting where they had to go. Myself and about 5 or 6 other people literally jumped aside to let them through haha.
And then... pretty much a down-pour.
That's what I get for leaving umbrella, hat, poncho, everything at the hostel. Grumble.
I motered thru the Castle though. I came back to Prague for this, figured I'd stay a bit haha. After about 20min
in the rain, I figured that was enough and took a tram back into the city. I lived dangerously... the ticket machine didn't work at the platform, so I had to ride without a ticket. Good thing I was only going two stops... I was so scared the inspectors would come on haha.
I had to transfer to the metro from there (finally got my ticket!) and bought an umbrella at H&M.
I didn't tell the "umbrella" story yet. I brought one from home... I brought what I thought was my normal blue one. Nope. It was the one Mom bought in Alaska... sigh. I don't mind when things say Ottawa/Canada... but when they say other places, I just don't like them for myself because everyone automatically asumes it's where you're from.
And as just about any Canadian can attest to, being mistaken for an American is not enjoyable. Nothing against my American friends... it's just a thing we have 😉
Anyway. I got my trusty new umbrella and set out for the bridge with all the statues - I figured with the cloud cover, it would give me vastly different pictures than last time I
was here and it was 30+ degrees and sunny. The bridge was an interesting sight lol - oh so many umbrellas!!
From the bridge, I wandered around the Old Town, and went to see the Astronomical (I think that's what it was called? Maybe? I forget haha) clock. I then somehow found myself back to the hostel because the map I had only had major streets on it... and centre of Prague is essentially all little roads here and there.
Back at the hostel, spent my day re-configuring my travel plans for the rest of my voyage. I have decided to opt out of Greece because in all honesty, I don't want to deal with the stress of not knowing when/if a strike will be called while I'm there. I had 3 flights and a ferry booked for while I was there... and I just knew something at some point would go wrong haha.
But now my new plan is all worked out 😊
PS. Sharing a room with 3 Italian guys. They just DOUSED the room in some kind of spray. Going to suffocate. Holy shit. And they are drunk. Beautiful. They are going to
suckkkkk when they come back tonight.

Good luck with that!
Gone are the days of segregated rooms by gender, eh? Can hardly wait for tomorrow's entry!
