Old Town
After the winding, confusing cab ride to the hotel..house of the three drums...we walked over to the astronomical clock in old town square. This clock has several dials one with markings zero to twenty three, one with zero to twelve, and one with three hundred and sixty five days of the year. We were able to watch the show at the top of the hour. A skeleton pulls on a chain and the twelve apostles march across the top of the clock.
Charles Bridge
This foot brdge was bulit in the thirteenth century by Charles the fourth. The statues were added later but look better from a far. Close up they are not fine pieces of art and are in serious need of a thorough cleaning.
Prague Castle
We walked down through the old medieval castle. Of course, the national cathredal was interesting with all the Kings and Bishops building large and ornate monuments to themselves.
Our favorite activity though was climbing the two hundred and eighty seven steps to the top of the bell tower. It nearly killed us but the view of the old city was great.
Pub Tour
All of
Change in the weatherIn Vienna we were so hot that we took two showers a day to cool off. It is so cold here we are wearing three layers to keep warm...but it is SUNNY.
that stair climbing sure made us thirsty...so we started our pub tour by stopping at the quaint little pub, At the Hippo....it was a small, thirty person pub with only men and the barmaid and Patricia. Cold Pilsner Urquell. We decided we had such fun with that stop, that we have continued our tour today. First stop after the noon hour was the largest, oldest pub in Prague....U Flecka....sunshine, courtưard, and cold DARK beer and a sausage. Life is good. Next stop was a local microbrewery...just stopping to say hello to you all and then we head out again for another pub on the list from our travel guide. Can you tell we are having fun.
