Fully rested and bright and chippy from not drinking for the first time in perhaps 7 days, i woke up relatively early and went to get breakfast (something i would not usually do anyway) with Enda. In a surprise shock, Conor slept in.
After Breakfast we did some research for getting out of Prague (those first few encounters had us hankering for Austria ((which by the way i can now say we were right to do)) which of course was the next step of our journey). Enda got talking to an annoying little fu#ker from Austria (most Austrians are lovely, but this guy was terrible) but i managed to avoid the little......guy.....for now.
We went back up to Conor and got him out of bed before heading out to get our culure on. We took a tram straight to the castle and were lucky enough to run into a middle aged Italian man with no english with whom i managed to communicate with. He told me we were just on time to see the changing of the guard. At least thats what i think he told me.
We walked around the castle, saw the guards changing in time
to music and took a bucket load of pictures. We went for a bit of a shop and had a thai massage each (totally legit i swear) before crossing that famous bridge and heading for the old town.
I should mention that there is a depiction of two people ( i can only assume they are holy) and that i later found out that if you rub one you get good luck, and if you rub the other you become super fertile. Yes, i touched both.
Nice
So we got to the old town and saw the Jewish district, which was pretty and hisoric and free, and then we went to look around the more modern part of town...perhaps stopping off to purchase one or two items in a clothes shop......
After which we went to the pub and watched the Kilkenny matchthe Man U - Chelsea match, which were both on at the same time. Ive never had a better pint of cider than the one i had in that Irish pub after walking around Prague all day.
We then went back to the hostel, got cleaned up, agreed to go on a pub
crawl with some Americans ( and the Austrian.....guy) and headed off to the city centre to do the organised pub crawl. We lasted to the first pub before the Austrian guy pissed us off too much. We bailed.
We did happen to meet two Australian girls, and we spent the rest of the night trying to find a decent pub. We did find one where you pour your own pints, but the music was too loud, so we bailed again. The girls were good sports and we had a laugh walking around, so not all was lost :-)
We even saw a rat riding a dog like a person rides a pony.
Score.
