Well it's been a while since my last update. just back from spending 4 days in Prague. It is a truly beautiful city and I could easily spend some more time there. So many little streets to get lost on and so many bars and cafes to test! It was nice not to do a tour and to have 4 days in a 4 star hotel & we even had our own private mercedes, the most luxurious of our time away. Prague is quite cheap compared to everywhere else we have been so we did alot of drinkng and eating and drinking and eating.
We met our kiwi friends there on Thursday. It was absolutley freezing there, didn't leave the hotel without wearing plenty of layers and brought myslef a warmer hat. It even snowed for us on Sunday which was nice to see. We checked out all of the main sights, started with a wonder aorund town and found a bar with many cocktails drank, Mojitos are the fave at the moment. There was a visit to Prague castle, the astronomical clock and main square, the torture museum (very disturbing), a walking tour, the National Museum (to warm myself
up), Charles Bridge, the Jewish cemetary and Spanish Synagogue. A town with many gothic buildings, and windie lanes to get lost in. Was very tired from our fun adventures but conjured up the energy to hit the town of Saturday night to a dodgy but kind of cool 5 level nightclub. It was a good night and we boogied til our feet hurt and we couldn't stand anymore and froze our way home around 4am... needless to say I had a good nap on the plane back to Edinburgh.
So it was a good weekend, a good time to get away as last week I was really struggling, the homesickness over the last couple of weeks has been bad and I was very ready to jump on a plane home. The weather has gotten quite miserable, it's still dark outside at around 8am and it gets dark by 4pm. After spending a few days in freezing Prague the last 2 days back haven't seemed too cold. So i,m trying to stay motivated and convince myself i,m doing the right thing next year, LOL. I had applied with the tour company I went around Europe with for a trip leader
position and have been to London and back for the interview. I got through and start on my training trip in April next year - very exciting!! I have lots and lots of studying to do before then and have received my study pack which was quite daunting! But it means that instead of sitting behind a desk next year I will be getting to travel all around Europe and leading people astray, LOL, and that's what I came here to do! So aslong as I make it through the training trip and still want to do the job then I will be doing the whole summer Europe season and just chase summer back to Oz and then maybe even back here for a seocnd summer season - who knows!
Apart from all of the above we also had the kiwi fun gals come and stay for a long wkd and partied with them and showed them our Edinburgh sites! Edinburgh has just been voted no.1 place to live in the UK - a little randomn fact for you all! I,ve been really busy at work and can you belieeeeeve it's only 4 weeks to xmas!!! So scary how
quick this year has gone. Next week we have our team xmas do at a mexican restuarant and the week after we have a black tie company ball, and thankgod I already have found my frock! Speaking of frocks, what a year to be away.... I now have 5 weddings & 2 new babies to come home to from November next year, is it something in the Australian water?? - can you pls send me some, LOL. Kate and I are spending xmas with my family here which will be really nice and we are both working over xmas/new year - we have never been this broke in our lives!! We have tickets the New Year street Hogmanay festival, the xmas lights were turned on last week in the main street and gardens and there are German markets, rides and a couple of ice skating rings so we will have to go and have a squiz. Our kiwi fun girls are coming over for New Year so we will have plenty of people to play with. Kate will be on the countdown then til she comes homein ealry Feb - hard to believe it's nearly been a year since we
left!! It's worked out well as afr as our flat goes because now I have a familiar aussie face to visit me when kate goes which will be really good to see a really good friend before I go on my trip leader journey!!
Well my little friend burgers, writing this has allowed me to once again put my studying off for at least an hour and a half - I was always good at putting study off. Hope everyone is really well, missing everyone more than ever xoxoxoxox
