Prague was an excellent place to visit. I went there with three of my friends and we stayed in Czech Inn, it's a hostel and a hotel. However, the hostel room we stayed in was just as nice as a nice hotel. The only thing different was the bathroom. Breakfast was included in our travel package we chose and it was probably the best breakfast I have had in Europe so far.
We arrived in Prague Friday at around 11am, it ended up being a 13 hour drive from Florence. We then got to do a walking tour of Prague and had a very funny tour guide who knew we wouldn't remember dates so just stuck with the entertaining information such as that the movie Eurotrip was not filmed all over Europe but just in Prague. We went to the old town square which was gorgeous at night because everything is lit up. There were so many cute outside restaurants within the square The first night we were there we ate at this little place near our hostel where they mostly spoke czech but they understood what we ordered, it was nice to be away from the tourism. We also
found our 1st starbuck's since being in Europe! We of course stopped by and ordered venti coffees and I ordered a bagel (bagels are hard to find in Italy, but I have heard of a bagel place so I will have to search that more as soon as possible) and we spent a couple hours enjoying something finally familiar to us.
It was extremely colder in Prague than in Florence so I was not dressed appropriately especially at night. People were wearing winter coats and scarves, I brought just a sweatshirt. I wish the weather would come Florence's way, it's still 80 degrees and sunny out. Although it was cold, Prague is the prettiest city I have seen since I have been in Europe. It is very big and spread out, a person can get lost really easily if they're not paying attention.I figured out the metro and found my way back from the zoo without our tour guide, it's really easy once you get the hang of it. We also had to take a couple taxis because the city is just too big to walk from place to place. It's also really really clean, I absolutely loved
Prague but I wouldn't be able to live there.
Saturday we went to the Praha Zoo which is ranked the 4th in the world. They had about every type of animal imaginable, even wolves. I thought I had known what a wolf looked like, I was mistaken. The wolves were put in a special area because of how dangerous they are. One thing I found really interesting was that dogs were allowed in this zoo and some of the animals went right up to the cage to touch noses with some of the dogs, it was different to say the least. The zoo also had different animals placed in the same cages, such as a monkey with rams. There also weren't any covers to the outside cages, the animals could easily have walked out of the cages and the monkeys could jump out and into another cage. It was the biggest zoo I had ever seen. We were there for a good 4 hours and didn't even see everything. After that we went to a beer factory where they have a beer tap at every table and there is a board where it keeps a tally of how much
beer each table drinks. After that we had a lot of crowns and didn't want to exchange them so we decided to go to a really really nice dinner, the name of the place I forgot, but for a good quality dinner it was only about $25 which isn't normally thought of to be a nice dinner judging by the price.
I would suggest a visit to Prague to anyone! I would love to go back when I'm not on a time constraint and have more time to explore and see more of the nightlife.
Sunday we went to Oktoberfest, my second time this year, but my friends' 1st time. They absolutely loved it. We didn't get into a tent unfortunately because we didn't have much time, we were only there for about 4 hours. I had 2 brats and kraut, the best meal ever. I bought a few souvenirs and we were on our way back to Florence.
