One of the things I loved about the Wizard of Oz was to learn the management style of Dorothy. I mean just think about it, she had to manage the scarecrow who was always in a state of confusion, the lion is in a state of anxiety, the tin man is just so cold no one can get to him and toto was just a hyperactive nudnik. This poor girl was just trying to get home and instead she found herself in an almost impossible managerial situation. Dorothy's only hope was to set out on the yellow brick road to find Emerald City and to ask the Wizard of Oz to return her to Kansas.
Well if we categories people as "doers" or people who are "in the now" (i don't know how to spell beerers) Jeff and I are definitely "doer's" (Take note there is no judgement statement on which state is better). So how does a "doer" go on vacation? by finding things to do!
Well this trip Jeff and I decided that we were going to try the other side of life and just "be".. So we went for a day to Ljubljana Slovenia and then
Emerald green water
so clear you can see the bottom jumped into the car to find Oz. We drove trying to read maps without our bifocals without much luck - we couldn't see the words on the map and ended taking an hour detour but all the same we put our minds to finding Oz And we did!
If we're on a 12 step program for detoxing from "doing" this is the place to go.
The Plitvice Lakes just forced us to stand in awe of majestic beauty, the EMERALD clear waters, the sounds the smells. Of course the lion in me came jumping out every so often and caused that scarecrow to scream but by the end of 24 hours we were just in a state of "being".
As we walked along the banks of those waterfalls, we talked about how we got to the other side of life without knowing it had happened. (you know- no kids at home. not being able to read the large writing without glasses) we talked about what we know for sure and decided we know nothing and taking every day as "its all good" is the best way to go!
But addicts will be addicts and before i could
get past the 24 hour mark - my Dorothy said : Yallla Yalla ..let's move on! Off we went finding ourselves once again on a dark road - not looking yellow at all- in a middle of a major rain storm, not knowing if we were going in the right direction back to Slovenia. Luckily a ten year old boy understood minimal english and said - ya ya and pointed for us to continue along a 5 hour path till we found our next site.
A little hotel in Stanjel Slovenia between no where and who knows, called A special kind of house.
Its just beautiful just to bad I ran over their kitten and their cows who are raised organically - that means they can romp around and believe everyone is vegetarian charged at me for running over their friend.
Tomorrow we decided to just be - were taking it one hour at a time. wish us luck.
