New DrivewayFrom the road onto our property...possibly our future parking area.
UPDATE:
The land clearing phase has just ended and as you can see from the photos, the property is actually taking some form now. Both older houses have been completely demolished and all that is remaining are some rocks (used for walls and base) from the smaller old house. The rock pile has grown considerably and my back is thankful that this work is finished for now.
Our friendly backhoe operator performed some good work for us was able to clear most of the thick bushes and trees away from the land. He also formed a parking area adjacent to the road and flattened out most of the upper area of the property. The parking area will also serve to station the next well-drilling machine that we will eventually have drill a well there. The first well-drillers screwed-up and lost their drill head 30 meters under the ground. They found water but then they quit on us after their second attempt to drill a hole failed. So for now, we will hold off on any well drilling until we can find some proper drillers that don't mess us around and can get the job done properly.
Our architect
has finalized the house plans (building structural design, water & electrical) and we have submitted them to the local municipality in order to receive our building permits, which could take a while. While we are waiting for this, Svetla and I will be taking off for 3 weeks on a planned holiday to France and Croatia. When we get back we will be expecting the building permits and we may start building some reataining walls. Overall, everything is going pretty good and we are slowly making progress and it's exciting to see the land taking shape from what we originally had....until mid-August!!
