I can’t believe tomorrow’s my last day here in Plovdiv! Time really flies when you do these volunteer camps, it’s crazy. As much as I’m looking forward to coming home, it’s still sad to think of leaving here.

Wednesday pretty much cemented the fact we're all going crazy w/ these kids - everyone of us girl volunteers has been molested by these kids. They're not shy about it either, they grab on. Hard. I dare the next one to try it (they were good yesterday) because they will get their hand smacked, and hard.

Oh yes, we've also pretty much all been asked to have sex. "You, me? I want sex", and then he'd like come up to you and try to rub up against you. Isn't that just fantastic? We're all like omg NE!!!! Meanwhile the teachers just sit there and don't care. Seriiously, what is this? It's a good thing the little girls are nice and there's one or two boys that are still well behaved... otherwise our group of volunteers would really not want to go be w/ the kids.

Yesterday morning we were colouring w/ the kids when one of the teachers came in to say they got new computers. Needless to say the kids bolted to the computer lab, leaving us all behind. Of course we did the only logical thing and started colouring ourselves - I have a beautiful picture of the Care Bears that I’m quite proud of thank you =)

We went outside for a bit to play… soccer of course. I wasn’t goalie tough which sucked b/c I had to actually run around. Some of the kids then started racing each other on scooters and bikes - one of the little girls was too cute - she took one of the volunteers flip flops and was trying to run in them. She basically shuffled along, we’re all like awwww!!!

After lunch I went to buy my bus ticket to Varna for Saturday morning - I can’t wait to get there!! Black Sea in all it’s glory. The rest of the afternoon was spent guarding our rooms from the kids. We had a middle door that locked, but it’s broken now so the kids just wander into our hall and try to sneak into our rooms which is obv I big problem. So one kid (the "I want sex" one) showed up, 3 of us volunteers managed to get him out w/o using physical force which was impressive. He came back though, so we tricked him into going out the other door and then we locked it. Ha. Score one for the big kids.

About 15min another kid showed up and was pounding all our doors… after 4x on my door, plus 2 other attempts to turn the handle, I opened the door in mid-knock and grabbed his hand and literally dragged him back to his room and our camp leader went to freak at their teacher to keep a better watch on them. Ugh.

At night we decided to go do karaoke haha. Omg, I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time… a very long time. Our entire bunch of girls did Stop (Spice Girls) which was an epic fail hahaha. We concentrated so hard on remembering the dance moves we like didn’t sing the verses haha. Score. We did better on Strong Enough (Cher) and Wonderwall (Oasis) though. It was a lot of fun!

Today we played with the kids for about 2hrs - we mostly stayed inside just watching tv and playing hand clapping games and all that fun stuff. I was so happy not to have to play soccer for once haha. We did go outside for about half an hour, but the kids brought their bikes and roller blades out, so they pretty much took care of their own entertainment. After lunch we went back to living room with them for a bit to play some cards and computer games, and that was that for today.

The volunteer group went out swimming. Ahhhh, very nice!! It was actually one of the nicest pools I’ve ever been to. I managed to tan a little bit which is nothing short of a miracle considering I usually either burn or stay pasty white. Go me!

Travelling Canadian
University years are the time to travel, so off I go! Not big into the tours and the tourist traps thank you very much - more content to wander around the city and escape on day-trips in the surrounding areas. So that is that :) ... full info
