Having had enough of the snow, I escaped to Mostar, a beautiful town in the region of Herzegovinia. While the majority of it was destroyed in the Bosnian war of the 90s they have managed to restore many of its monuments, not the least of which is the old bridge, first created by the Ottomans in the 16th century. For me personally, the Bosnian war was felt more keenly and was much more raw in Mostar than in Sarajevo. Maybe this was due to me walking through various graveyards and past shelled buildings during my 7 hour excursion there.
Whatever the case it was a memorable walk and despite the scars of war, a pretty place that I won't forget.
